Al Gore may have an Oscar, a Grammy and a Nobel Prize on the mantle of his solar-powered, carbon-free fireplace, but he's being one-upped by a controversial environmental activist named Annie Leonard.

The California-based filmmaker has an online hit with "The Story of Stuff," a 20-minute video that is being used in thousands of schools to explain America's dangerous obsession with material things — and one that some critics are calling a misleading diatribe against capitalism.

So this begs the question. Why aren’t WE getting out there with kid-friendly presentations to sell our viewpoint?

This is nothing more than propaganda. It could be considered “religious propaganda” because of the worship mother earth Gaia tie-in.

Unless you have a court order to back you up it wouldn’t matter WHAT you had to “sell” our viewpoint. The Schools are just that corrupt.

Wonder what kind of “stuff” the film maker owns? For sure a computer and the “stuff” necessary to produce her propaganda about stuff. The new priests I presume.

“that is being used in thousands of schools...”

What did the PTA and school board say? Was there no review of classroom materials?

It is Marxist dogma to insist that all property is theft.

Because the ugly truth is that Communism KILLS. And that is an unpleasant message to bring to children. That their educators are LYING to them to usher in great strife and revolution.

If you want the “kid friendly” version, read them the story from Aesop of the Ant and the Grasshopper.

The Grasshopper knew that winter was coming but played and slacked off while the ants worked hard and saved for the future.

Read them the story of the three little pigs.

Collectivism brings everyone down to the same lowly level.

Show them the 1950s animated version of Animal Farm (which still received an “adults only” 16+ X rating in England in the 1950s as did the Wild One). It informs them that those who preach ‘equality’ do not often say that “some are more equal than others” as their hypocrisy is exposed.

Conservatives/Republicans never seem to put their money where their mouths are.

I'd say its the opposite...we don't put our mouths where our money is (outside of talk radio). That's probably because most of us are out busting our butts trying to be productive members of society, rather than being "creative" and publishing propaganda to advance our viewpoints.

I am one of the millions who have watched the video on the Web site.

“The Story of Stuff” is great educational material for children. It has great production values and works on several levels.

If Junior comes home spouting the wisdom he learned from “The Story of Stuff”, parents can benefit in at least three ways. First, they can use the message of “The Story of Stuff” to explain why there will be no presents under the tree this Christmas ... and no tree, either.

When Junior protests, his parents can then use “The Story of Stuff” to illustrate how the State and its agencies use propaganda to indoctrinate its servants.

Parents can then guide Junior to apply critical thinking to determine whether to believe “The Story of Stuff” or his parents’ refutation.

Most children will agree with the parents and reject the thesis of “The Story of Stuff”. If Junior is unable to understand the parents’ refutation of “The Story of Stuff” or will not denounce it, he should be further tested for the causes for his mental retardation and/or psychosis.

So parents can use their school’s screening of “The Story of Stuff” to accomplish three things:

1) A one-time savings on Christmas this year,
2) An object lesson in how the State uses propaganda to corrupt the minds of young people, and
3) An irrefutible mental-health screening.

I think there should be a campaign to do comic or animated versions of The Gulag Archipelago or similar stories and circulate them by any means possible. Make them into Flash games. Take aim at other sacred cows of the left as well. The disapproval of the teachers and TPTB can be the best advertising.
