Scouts Train to Fight Terrorists, and More
why'd you change that?
Uhhhhhhhhh,,,,,no, this isnt even going to happen. Someone watches too much sci-fi
We did stuff like this decades ago when I was in the Scouts and CAP. Heck, we went through the entire Air Force survival manual one year and learned as much as we could. Outside of jumping out of airplanes, we pretty much did everything.
Already have ronnyquest,
When my kid was in 3rd grade he told me they asked the kids if mom or dad smoked or drank? Etc.
My kids 22 now.
There was already a thread on this. It’s about the Explorers which is an offshoot organisation of the Scouts. The Explorers do mainly law enforcement/fire dep’t type training.
This is nothing new or radical that you need to freak out about.
sounds like a screenplay for a Red Dawn remake...
I call Troll on RonnyQuest based on the intentional misrepresentation of the headline!Boy Scouts Train to Become Homeland Gestapo

Heck, at least we have youth learning how to handle and respect firearms instead of turning into fearful hippies or picking them up off the street with no knowledge of proper use.
We used to take the Church youth group out to play paintball.
It’s like kill and release shootouts.
You DO get shot ... it DOES hurt ... you DO get over it in a few minutes (and it’s dang good training on how to try and NOT get shot by “the other side” and how to shoot them first)
So will they actually be fighting Islamic terrorists, or the enemies of Hussein?

Future Scouts of America.
You are correct. The Daily Kos is pimping this “Boy Scouts Are Nazis” BS.
I think some folks just want us to be scared and paranoid so we pull our kids out of scouts, throw away all our computers and TVs, and sit huddling in the corner hoping Big Brother doesn’t get us..
The fear is Big Brother’s greatest weapon.
Gee, your brain went right where the NYT directed it. Mission accomplished.
You’re exactly right.
My son plays “airsoft”, not paintball. Small plastic pellets with very accurate copies of weapons. Sometimes organized recreations of battles, sometimes with friends in the woods. It’s something a LOT of kids do. Google “airsoft” and see!
Dear Mr. `Winston Smith’/Snooping Federal Computer Geek,
(not you, mnehring)
from whatever agency you represent

and wherever you are located:
FYI, my teenage daughter (Dean’s List, fall and spring) can hit center of mass at 50 yards with a .357 or shotgun.
Have a nice weekend.
Best FRegards,
tumblin’
PS Anyone know how many layers of kevlar can stop a .223? 9mm? at 50
yards. I’m think about 7 layers around a thin steel plate. Thoughts? Buhler?
Ferris Buhler?
You know, I’ve put that body armor poser to FR before, and no one seems to know; everyone seems to know a lot about shooting, but apparently little about (the possibility of) getting shot at.
OK, I’ll find out myself. Who can afford ceramic plates? Not I.
As a young man I did the following:
I was on drug raids Where the officers went in and then we cut down the marijuana
Worked in two jails escorting prisoners, searching dorms, processing inmates, etc.. I was searching a prisoner and he turned around after being told to stay still. That did not work out to well for him as he ended up stripped and in what is called a blue room.
Drove up on a dead body which turned out to be a drunk guy who we escorted home. This was when MADD was just getting their legs. Anyway, the guy only lived a block away.
Did security for the Miss California 3 years, Salinas Car show and even listened to “Black Power” and Black Panther via Huey Newton. That was weird as I had never heard anyone talk like that before. I told the officer I was assigned to that the things this guy was saying are unbelievable and that I did not hold the views that “supposedly” White people do. The office said that he nor anyone he knows holds the beliefs this guy was spewing.
Did a weapons search for a crime he was suspected of committing.
On ride alongs I went to everything you see on COPS, the TV show. Let me tell you, you adrenaline rushes when you walk into a domestic disturbance and an officer says to stand your ground in a certain area of the room to control people.
Did a couple of search and rescues.
Trained for Disaster as an first responder and as a casualty.
Could go on but the whole experience taught me a lot about Law Enforcement and I realized though a noble job that I was destined to do something else.
The goal of the Explorer program is the introduction to Law Enforcement and gives you sense of what it is like. This enables you decide if you want to pursue the field.
Yeah, wait til they have to face muslim barbarians who like to behead people......
