PHOENIX Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney joined Bush administration officials, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, in arguing today that President Obamas approach to combating terrorism had left the country less safe.
"It's the very kind of thinking that left America vulnerable to the attacks of September 11th," Romney told the National Rifle Association's annual gathering. And the approval of left-wing law professors and editorial boards wont be worth much if this country lets down its guard and suffers an attack."
Even while declaring an end to past interrogation practices he calls torture, Obama has alienated many in his own party with a cautious approach to the issue. He has rebuffed calls to investigate Bush administration policymakers and release photographs of in that military leaders have said would be unnecessarily provocative. Today, the White House announced it would resume the use of military commissions to try those in American custody, a practice that Obama had criticized as a candidate.
"I'm glad he's continuing to hold military tribunals for terrorists," said Romney, who also said he approved of Obamas hawkish approach to ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. "In fact, whenever he adopts the policies of John McCain and George W. Bush like this, Im glad."

Follow the money.
Anyway, I was hoping one of you guys would make that argument that the only reason Romney's Mass health insurance mandate is a failure is because they didn't implement it the way Romney wanted. The minute government presumes to interfere and meddle, punishing with fines and fees and invading all kinds of privacies by trying to take control of personal, business, and private decisions such as health care and insurance and the relationships regarding them between employee, employer, ensurer, and doctor, it is guaranteed that the consequences will be negative and loss of individual freedom, choice, and responsibility will follow.
The only way Romney could have prevented this from happening was to FIGHT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUCH A BILL IN THE FIRST PLACE, which would have been the conservative thing to do and would have promoted individual liberty and free enterprise. But Romney was (and still is) arrogant enough to think that he could come up with just the right "conservative" version, and of course it failed because it was oxymoronic to conservatism.
As for the folks at the NRA welcoming Romney (I think in an earlier post you said they welcomed Romney warmly or enthusiastically) -- well, you're the kind of guy who willfully misinterprets Rush Limbaugh and Michael Reagan's very lukewarm words about Romney as "support" and endorsement," so I know that all the NRA folks had to do was for half the folks in the audience to clap politely (the way the audience responded to Mitt's CPAC speech, in fact), and you'd call it a standing ovation.
Agreed.
Do you have the link for the,"Rush voted for Romney"?
I have the link for his claims that Governor Palin campaigned for Romney.
That massresistance is an Obama blog.
That the Romney family did have a male serve the United States in uniform.
Gee, that is convincing evidence, I may rethink my entire position here.
Perenial spoiler, eager carpetbagger, and GOP backstabber Mitt "Lying-Myth" Romney:
"When anyone brings up my poor history as Governor,"
or my failure to allow citizens to vote, or my usurpation of the Massachusetts Constitution
to impose my design for gay marriage and the rest, or my penchant for murderer-freeing judges,
the AIG kickbacks I received, my abuse of my dog, my taking 3 sides on every issue,
or my AIG kickbacks, or my fake endorsements, or my fake LEO badges,
or my BIG-DIG coverup, or my history of socialism by fiat, then
I and my servants and slaves will invoke my religion to protect me from any and all criticism. "

Disgusting as usual isn’t it.
Even more digusting...
He hides it well...
We had it here in OK when Coburn ran in 2004. DC elites wanted Humphreys and shut off Dr. Coburn’s fundraising chances in DC. Lott, Warner, et al did not want Dr. Tom so Toomey from Club for Growth gets some money into the race for Coburn plus the money he was getting from the grassroots. He ran a grassroots campaign through the primary and won outright in a 3-way race and defeated the DemocRAT pretending to be conservative in the general.
Hastert, Speaker of the House at the time, came out and said about three weeks before the election that Dr. Coburn would not win the seat and would lose to the DemocRAT. He basically stiffed the grassroots but we showed Hastert that he didn’t have a clue as Dr. Coburn won big.
These primary and general elections need to be much more grassroots. I have noticed that most conservatives will get behind the primary candidate but moderate to liberals tend to sit on their hands in the general if they lost the primary.
We need a turnaround in some states with the grassroots becoming much more active and not taking it lying down when the powers at be in DC pick a candidate in the primary and openly endorse him like NRSC Chair Cornyn and McConnell have done with Crist. That is flat out wrong!
I don’t want to ever here those two ever say we need any outreach into the Hispanic community because they just undercut the Cuban candidate in FL Marco Rubio who Crist is opposing. Then we have Sen Martinez backing Crist instead of a fellow Cuban. What a backstabbing person. I wouldn’t give you two cents for any of the three.
This is a perfect example of where the grassroots has to take over and support Rubio. A candidate can have a lot more money but if you get an active grassroots campaign, chances are that the grassroots candidate will win the primary.
And I just LOVE your catch on the Romney who served in the military! Now THAT Romney is a true hero, the one in the picture who is very probably not related to Mitt!
Romney is hopeless. His approval of Obama’s Afghan and Pakistan quagmires shows that he doesn’t have a clue.
Thanks for two more examples of the RINO shuffle.
I agree with your comments concerning the grass roots.
We need a lot of this next spring.
And right now, we need to be nailing down good Conservative candidates to run.
Governor Romney has indeed "flip-flopped" on gun control:
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Former governor Mitt Romney, who once described himself as a supporter of strong gun laws, is distancing himself from that rhetoric now as he attempts to court the gun owners who make up a significant force in Republican primary politics.
In his 1994 US Senate run, Romney backed two gun-control measures strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups: the Brady Bill, which imposed a five-day waiting period on gun sales, and a ban on certain assault weapons.
"That's not going to make me the hero of the NRA," Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.
At another campaign stop that year, he told reporters: "I don't line up with the NRA."
And as the GOP gubernatorial candidate in 2002, Romney lauded the state's strong laws during a debate against Democrat Shannon O'Brien. "We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them," he said. "I won't chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety."
