The world's first burger pilgrimage has been announced allowing 'food tourists' to pay homage to the humble fast-food.
The itinerary takes in 16 cities in eight countries that are deemed to have played a pivotal role in the evolution of the burger.
The Burger Pilgrimage Trip, cooked up by fast-food giant Burger King, will take 35 days to complete and cost a whopping £3,400.
It is aimed at the rapidly growing number of 'food tourists'.
Historically, the burger started as a meatball in classical Roman times, with more sophisticated versions developing in the Middle Ages.
Sarah Power, marketing director of Burger King in the UK and Ireland said: "Contrary to popular opinion, the burger has both an interesting and surprising history, which this new trip highlights.
"Customers can now explore all the other cities that have made the burger into the food icon that it is today."
Celia Pronto, marketing director of trip organiser STA Travel said: "It seems that our taste for foreign food and travel has really developed over the years."

This is pathetic. People in the “know” recognize that fast food franchises DO NOT have good burgers.
My personally favorite, all-time best hamburger, is the Tillamook cheddar & bacon 1/2 pounder (cooked to order) on whole wheat bun that can only be found at Jack London’s Call Of The Wild, in Carmel-by-the-Sea. And yes! That comes with lettuce, tomatoe, onions and the world’s best plank fries!

For about $7,000, you could buy alot of Whoppers. My guess is that the people who would like to do this trip will put their $$ in the burgers instead.
It sounds like these guys promoting this trip could be future Democratic politicians.

A meat ball isn't a burger.
People in the know recognize that fast food franchises DO NOT have good burgers.
Have you tried an "In and Out" burger (found in CA among other places)? Made to order (fresh not frozen meat), freshly cut potatoes for fries; grilled onions, and mighty good. And it's fast food. But, in general, I agree, fast food outlets don't have the best burgers.
Yes, it happened when a meatball fell off a table and was stepped on by a Roman soldier.
