Notre Dame, Trustees and Father Jenkins’ Final Word
cnsnews.com ^ | May 15, 2009 | Judie Brown

Our good friend Frank Walker has written one of the most insightful analyses of the University of Notre Dame’s Board of Trustees that I have ever seen. In fact, we are reprinting it below in full so that you can gain a better understanding of the foundational problems that the University of Notre Dame’s leadership is actually dealing with today and has been since the Hesburgh reign. He writes:

No Likely Support From Notre Dame's Board of Trustees For Rescinding Obama Invite

By Frank Walker

May 10, 2009 - A great deal of criticism has been leveled at Notre Dame President, Rev John I. Jenkins, for his choice to honor President Obama at this year’s commencement. But Fr. Jenkins, like all university presidents, must consider the will of the school’s governing board. The Notre Dame Board of Trustees is a powerful organization, comprised of top international business owners, chairs of rich endowments, academic leaders, judges, attorneys, faculty, and prominent clergy. These individuals are typically very wealthy, well-connected and highly accomplished; many with broad interests outside the university. A closer look at the board and its affiliations might shed light on just how Notre Dame came to this decision.

Many of the influential alumni on the Notre Dame board are from the nearby Chicago area, and are part of the same Chicago power structure that President Obama ascended. Richard and Peggy Notebaert are leading members of the ND community, and Notebaert is chair of the Notre Dame trustees. While Obama served in the senate, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, received federal funding earmarked by Obama.. Key Obama campaign fundraiser, Frank Clark served on the board of the Notebaert Museum at the time.

None are "wealthier" or more "well-connected" than God.

And therein, lies the rub...we've got a "Catholic" university run by a bunch of non-Catholics!

It is amazing how so many trusts get taken over by the libs. And there is no way of getting them out after they take over.

Considering that this move was oppossed by ‘well connected and highly accomplished’ bishops and cardinals, I wonder how long it will be before Fr. Jenkins is assigned to his new job as St. Bernard ass-wiper in some remote Swiss canton?

“if” what has been reported that Fr. Jenkins is on the board of some “pro-abortion” outfit, I suspect he will be history at ND sooner rather than later...

***At this crossroads, we must be a place where people of good will are received with charity, are able to speak, be heard, and engage in responsible and reasoned dialogue.***

“Reasoned dialogue” means we must all be open minded even when we’re discussing the murder of babies.

In addition, “dialogue” means discussion between two people. O’s speech will be a monologue. But Father Jenkins didn’t mention that.

. In the Catholic tradition, our first allegiance is to God in Christ, yet we are called to respect, participate in, and contribute to the wider society.

Jenkin's is a double talker - he writes the above to the graduating class and his choice iss #2 - NOT putting God first. Keyes is doing both - puts God first and participating/contributing to the wider society.

I pointed this out earlier.

Hesburgh led the revolt of Catholic colleges against the Church, at the infamous Land o’ Lakes Conference.

One of his innovations was to transfer ownership of the university to a lay board of trustees.

These trustees are, of course, in bed with the administration in an incestuous relationship. The dissident presidents of Notre Dame get the kind of trustees that they choose, and the trustees get the kind of presidents that they support.

Of course the trustees will continue to back Jenkins.

Who knows what Jenkins believes--he is totally corrupt, as is his Board of Trustees, lying effortlessly and without shame. Words mean nothing to people like this. This little dust-up over Obama has not even mussed his hair and will cause hardly a ripple in the course of his venal administration.

54 Percent Of Catholics Voted For Obama. This means that over half of Catholics voting, voted for the most left wing anti-life BABY KILLING Presidential Candidate EVER.

Sad sad sad. Maybe Notre Dame is just playing the numbers. And if thats the case ND can go to hell.

I am tempted to drive on down there tomorrow though.

“54 Percent Of Catholics Voted For Obama?”

again, for the 1001th time, lets not confuse “Catholics” with CINO’s or “cafteria-Catholics”...
same goes for the 75% “Jews” who voted for Obama...
Jews & JINO’s are two entirely different groups.

corruption has won out against honest business.

The Board of Trustees is composed of a knot of individuals who seem to have much in common: They are wealthy, secular, and are no doubt influenced (whether they know it or not) by Liberation Theology. For a school that wants to be considered among the nation’s elite, the mediocrity of the Board is stunning.

I know Fox is ‘caged’ at ND for ‘their protection.’

0bama and his puppetmaster really can’t tolerate dissent or opposition. I am suprised 0bama doesn’t consider speaking at a Catholic university above his pay grade, but then maybe he can see it as a terrorist opportunity to not be questioned ‘about (his) muslim faith.’ After all, he has been to ‘transparent’ and ‘honest’ about what all this debt he and the democrat socialists are incurring is actually doing to the US: disemboweling the country.

_____
Two stories on Fox were cut short yesterday that I know of:

1) Major Garrett’s comment on how reporters ask questions, or that’s how he thought his job was supposed to go, and

2) the NYC school principal/vice-principal who had asked for federal assistance for his school that has become part of the swine flu situation in NYC schools and..... (?) (That’s what was cut off).

Now that we know we’re in line to have a federal/state media for real, how should we be surprised that all images, speech and thought is not on the docket for total control? Who do we think we are, anyway? Arent’ conservatives ready to die like we’re supposed to—especially those of us who remember and know what freedom was and is?

I am appalled at the revelations that Brown and Walker make. THis is a MUST READ for anyone who wants to understand how UND got to the state that it is in.

Pray for them. And pray that they all be replaced ASAP.
