You can run, but you cannot hide ... and if you try, one push of a button will cause a lethal poison to immediately begin flowing through your body.

That's the Orwellian future a Saudi inventor was seeking to bring to Germany until that nation's patent office announced last week it was rejecting his request to patent what has been dubbed the "Killer Chip."

The tiny semiconductor device is intended to be surgically implanted or injected into the body, according to the patent application, for the purpose of tracking visitors from other nations by global-positioning satellites and preventing them from overstaying their visas...

Under Germany's patent law, inventions that are unethical or a danger to the public are not recognized. recent times the number of people sought by security forces has increased," the Jeddah-based inventor wrote in his application...

The device would emit encrypted radio waves that would be picked up by satellites and "used to track fugitives from justice, terrorists, illegal immigrants, criminals, political opponents, defectors, domestic help, and Saudi Arabians who don't return home from pilgrimages," Sweden's The Local reported....

German law allows foreigners to apply for patents in the country through a local representative. In the case of the "Killer Chip," a Munich law firm was used....

That leaves open the possibility the Saudi inventor will find success in another country.

Thank you for your support. I would have responded earlier, but I was outside taking the numbers off of my house.

I’m with you and I can’t but wonder how healthy our societies have become with all that “extra” radiation being beamed down on us.

Thanks for the pic. Which episode is this from? I really like South Park—most of the time....I missed this one, bet it was great.

The US already has technology to make GPS useless when needed. There have been quite a few NOTAMs warning pilots that GPS will not work on certain dates and times in areas near military bases in the southwest.

"google earth"

Yes, and I didn't even think of that. And you get altitude as well. I suppose that, if the government plans to hit your abode with an altitude (pressure) activated bomb, altitude would be important.

The issue is not whether GPS is needed to round up people, it has to do with privacy and the constitutional necessity for a warrant to do searches of citizen property.

In effect, this data base makes it possible for a warrantless visual search of one's property. That includes searching with ground penetating radar as well as visual search.

The GPS census data base is just about as nefarious as it gets. The census does not need it and has no cogent reason to keep it other than for surveillance.

Funny. I think about that all the time. One hundred years ago there were no TVs, cell phones, radios.... think about all the "waves" constantly passing through our bodies.

I missed that one and a whole lot more. The kids used to watch it. I usually didn’t stay up that late. :)

Maybe it’s this one: http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/704

Oh, that is just nonsense. Your GPS location has about as much to do with your privacy as the number on the front of your house. Get a grip.

“Science fiction I suspect.”

A transmitter that would have enough power to transmit to a satellite would require one heavy duty set of batteries.

“My homes GPS location was inserted into that data base without my permission”

I can GPS locate your home with my Iphone in 30 seconds. I can do it from anywhere in the world just by knowing your address. The database is know as Google Earth.

“Someone can just drive down the street with a GPS locator and acquire such, whether in the private sector or public sector.”

They don’t even have to do that. They can do it on Google Earth from anywhere.

***You can run, but you cannot hide ... and if you try, one push of a button will cause a lethal poison to immediately begin flowing through your body. ***

I am reminded of an old si-fi short story I read back in the early 1960s. REPENT, CRIED THE TICK TOCK MAN!

Everyone is given a certain amount of time to live and each time you are late that amount of time is deducted from your lifespan. Everything is controlled by bureau run by “The Tick Tock man"!(not his real title, though). When you are late enough times to use up your allotted life span he pushes a button and you are eliminated.

(Cut to the ending) The tick tock man goes to his office and is told he is a few minutes late...”Nonsense!” he says, “Check your watch!”

Thats the standard answe I get. The problem is that its in a goverment data base and can be abused by goverment.

For example, I can take your personal photograph without you knowing it, and post it all over the internet.Everyone can see it, just as on google anyone can find an individual GPS location.

But if the government has everyones photo is a government data base, it can be misused for very nefarious purposes, it just doesn't need to have them , there is no logical purpose except for surveillance.

Surely you must see that difference.

Generally people are falling into your logic which makes a perfect government cover for setting up a GPS surveillance data base, which is exactly what the census GPS data is.

I see, going to do some nude sunbathing on your porch now are you? LOL.

Can't meet a cogent argument and getting touchy eh?

Warrentless searches are no joke, and we have a government that will have no hesitation in future use of the GPS data base to do just that. No right wing extremist nude sun bathing on your poch for you! You have an eye in the sky.

Hard to get use to the fact that government is now your enemy. And that is exactly what the Obama government is, the enemy of freedom and the enemy of the people.

yeah, where’s the conspiracy in a surgicaly implanted micro-chip that keeps track of your whereabouts and then kills you if someone deems that appropriate? The nut jobs will see a conspiracy in anything, won’t they? LOL
