Obama calls for understanding in Notre Dame speech

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – President Barack Obama strode head-on Sunday into the stormy abortion debate and told graduates at America's leading Roman Catholic university that both sides must stop demonizing one another.

Obama acknowledged that "no matter how much we want to fudge it ... the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable." But he still implored the University of Notre Dame's graduating class and all in the U.S. to stop "reducing those with differing views to caricature. Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words. It's a way of life that always has been the Notre Dame tradition."

One of the noisiest controversies of his young presidency flared after Obama, who supports abortion rights but says the procedure should be rare, was invited to speak at the school and receive an honorary degree. "I do not suggest that the debate surrounding abortion can or should go away," the president said.

I detest that arrogant sissy.

You just declared war on the 60 years old and older citizens. Where is your alleged sympathy and understanding?

And since the majority of 60 and older are white and he is giving healthcare insurance to illegals (30 million non-white), is there a racial hate crime in the works by Osissy?

News Briefs
Obama plans to remove ‘conscience clause’ for health-care personnel
March 02, 2009
President Barack Obama has directed the Department of Health and Human Services to rescind the “conscience clause” that protects health-care personnel from pressure to participate in procedures they regard as immoral, such as abortion. The “conscience clause” was established by outgoing President George W. Bush in an executive order he released in December 2008. President Obama— who has already issued an executive order to end the “Mexico City policy” barring taxpayer subsidies for abortion advocacy— could end this policy as well.

This is just untenable.

Pro-lifers are named terrorist and Obama lies consistant regularity and people applaud this man.

Ah, what a shame when the President of a university spends his entire speech time defending s person who doesn’t give a rat’s you know what about anything except himself. I wonder how much of our tax payer money was used for this dog and pony show?

Honest and decent people would have never put others through what Obama and the Fr. Jenkins have.

Didn’t Hitler have ralleys like this this to honor himself? What a real shame they are doing this in a religious environment.

Once again the Dear Leader misstates and trivializes the problem. I wonder what he thinks of the Lincoln Douglas debates.

Also, the deal is not a matter of demonizing. The Dear Leader thinks better a few infants should be left to die than that a single woman be inhibited or hindered in her choice of abortion. The Church differs, and considers the murder of innocents very important. While we have a continuing beef with him the current beef is with Notre Dame.

But stating that clearly would interfere with his implicit demonizing of those with whom he disagrees.

So let me get this straight. A protester shouted stop killing our baby's to which the crowd erupted into a campaign slogan chant of “yes we can.” With all do respect to any Notre Dame alums, but sounds like the recent grads aren't the smartest out there. Do they realize what that sounds like; stop killing babies, yes we can kill babies.

Kind of moronic.

This is the sadness of the whole thing — disobedience of the Pope and the Bishops by Jenkins, Tyson and the Board of Trustees of Our Lady’s University.

I think Our Lady no longer wants anything to do with this "institution".

All I can say to Jenkins is:

"But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, nor hot, I will vomit thee out of my mouth."

I detest that arrogant sissy.

You aren't the only one!

Remember when the MSM made fun of 'George Bush's swagger'?!

I don't hear them making fun of Obama's prissy swing that looks more like he is a fashion model (nose in the air so us mere mortals don't contaminate his existence)!

I would rather have SWAGGER than PRISSY!

When our politicians, the news media including Fox and Obama tell the truth, I may listen. Until then; it’s just a big scam Circus show.
