MANILA, Philippines - First, Teri Hatcher questioned the medical certificates of Filipino doctors. Then, British show Harry & Paul ridiculed a Filipina maid as a sex symbol. And just recently, Chinese columnist Chip Tsao called the Philippines a nation of slaves.
Now, its 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin's turn, joining the ranks of "internationally-recognized" celebrities who have maligned Filipinos, according to critics.
Baldwin a divorced father of a 13-year-old girl told David Letterman in one of his last interviews on the Late Show, how he taught of getting, or buying, himself a Filipina bride.
I think about getting a Filipino mail-order bride at this point or a Russian one, I dont care, Im 51," Baldwin told Letterman in a May 12 interview. [See: Alec Baldwin's Letterman interview]
Seemingly delivered in jest, Baldwins remark caused the audience to break into laughter and prompted the shows host, Letterman, to respond: "Get one for me [also], for later."

Many are very pretty and a good Philippina is a GREAT wife!
Time for some idiot to dig out the proven fraudulent, libelous allegations about Art Bell again. *sigh*

Sent her back ASAP. :O)
after two tours in Subic, I would have to agree with that
sentiment...;~)
TTIWWP
I’d say that definitely voids the warranty.....
I like my Filipina friends ! Even the cute ones....
Mabuhay
I work with a lot of Filipnas.
They sure are hot. Too short for me ,though.
I grew up with a large Filipino community in my city. I attended tons of Novenas that went late into the night with great food and gambling. They are great people with a wonderful sense of family, pride and culture. Alec Baldwin does NOT deserve a Filipina wife.
Alec Balwin . . . . . is he even still alive??
These elitists might trash Filipinos, but they are trashing people who are good-hearted, industrious, honest and generous. Neither Baldwin, Letterman, or any of the other elitists would qualify to sweep the floor of a Filipino’s hut.
Think “SPINNER”
The Filipinas I know would smile sweetly and hold his hand, all the while plotting to kick his butt when the time was right....
I AGREE WITH YOU I know that’s in caps. That is how strongly I feel about these generally very nice people.
I met my wonderful Filipina wife eleven years ago and we’ve been married for over six years with a beautiful baby daughter. As conservative as I am, my wife’s traditional, conservative values make me look like punk-rocker.
Someone like Alec Balwin is not worthy of a beautiful, family-oriented Filipina wife. Of course, he wouldn’t understand that. Crawling the bars in Vegas is probably a better bet for him...
I was thinking Ménage à Troi
Seriously, If I were in charge of immigration reform, immediate entry of Filipinas. Also increase the quota to the country of Miss Universe winner.
The Filipinas working in the Educational and Medical fields are highly educated there is rigorous competition in the Philippine Schools.
I have a Filipina Wife for 14 years we met through introduction,She was with me for 6 years also in the middle east and kept me from doing some stupid things , She also had my mothers approval something my first two American Wives did not have.. in short she made a better man out of me.
You may enjoy these recipes—or not.
Cheers from an old WestPac Marine who spent his share of time at Subic and Cubi Pt. and lived to talk about it....

LOL, Looks like your friend made up for lost Subic Bay liberty time...ouch!!! I thought I was bad. That has to be a record for just one night out in old Olongapo during the U.S. Navy days.
Look like a group of healthy young athletes to me.
Oops, for Mojo #3 that’s “8-12 oz “ of OJ
Also, in the bullfrog recipe-just to clarify—it’s 5 shots (2 oz ea) for the first 3 ingredients—so 10 oz total of each.
Finally, I agree with most posters— I have many warm memories of the PI—many terrific people. Alec, once again, is an idiot—what else is new?
I just LOVE Michelle!
At lease we know you’re not too lazy to do it yourself...
*snicker* That takes me back...
She calls A. Baldwin a “has been gas bag”—I’d say that’s being generous.
I would add pompous over the hill empty suit.
Below is link to a Subic Bay Navy Base Nostalgia site and a couple of present day Subic Bay websites you might want to check out. I check them out from time to time when I got nostalgic about Subic:
http://www.subicbaypi.com/home.htm - Nostalgia website of the former U.S. Navy Base in Subic Bay, PI. Lots of interesting links/info including a guestbook with Navy/Marines/Others who were there.
http://www.raosubic.com/ - Retired Activies Office, Subic Bay. Lots of current information on the current state of Subic Bay and assistance for military retirees living there or who wish to relocate there. There are still thousands of military retirees living in or around Subic Bay, even though the base closed over 16 years ago.
http://www.mangossubic.com/ - (Warning, there might be some fairly 'risque' photos in this link) Link to a current bar/restaraunt located in the Barrio. Also has lots of information on the current state of affairs in Subic, how to get there, etc. If any of you all remember the Rock Lobster bar out in the Barrio from the mid 1980's till the base closed in 1992, this is owned by the same guy (Tom I think his name is). It was the bar at the beginning of the Barrio bar strip that had the firepole you could slide down from the bar balcony to the street. The current place (Mangos) is located directly across the street from the old Rock Lobster location.
I know where I am going to take my next vacation!
Thanks, can’t go wrong with anything containing rum and pineapple juice!
I’m a ski coach and will bet their wax budget is higher than mine. :)
http://pacificislandtours.com/philippine-women.html Maybe this will help Aleck!
Yep, time to start saving those nickels, dimes and quarters. An old buddy of mine from my old PI unit emailed me recently that he made a return visit to Subic Bay back in 2007. He said I owe it to myself to go back at least one more time. I may just do it one of these days.
Those recipes explain a lot.
Buying a wife? Are women just commodities to these “enlightened” liberals. They are just pigs.
I make it an automatic rule to believe any “sea story” that anyone tells me about the Philippines—no matter how far-fetched it sounds. It’s probably true, no matter how implausible. That place was something else.
I have a good tolerance for liquor—but mojo is a bad moon risin’ waiting to happen. Mix up a batch before the next church potluck and bring it in
; )
All those years West Pac—you must have traveled down to Subic, didn’t you?
Here’s one more mojo recipe I forgot to put in, for all you gourmets out there. This was from my favorite hangout in Olongapo, the FTN (no offense-that was it’s name) Mojo Bar. They had a mural on one wall-a pitcher of Mojo with eyes and a evil smile—like Kool-Aid’s evil twin—saying:
“MOJO MAKES ME SMART!”
Good times.
16-24 oz Vodka
16 oz Rum (half dark and half 151)
8 oz Cherry Brandy
12 oz. Hawaiian Punch
12 oz Orange Soda
10-12 oz beer pref- San Miguel Beer
12 oz 7 Up
