...

Head said she will not post e-mails subject to various kinds of legal privilege, or "e-mails that are strictly person including those relating to my small children, parents and church." She said she "will continue to post batches of e-mails every few days."

Head has said her posting is an effort to put an end to the "political games" of Tracie Washington, a civil-rights lawyer who obtained tens of thousands of council e-mails through irregular channels and recently published messages that Head wrote on a Web site, seemingly to cause the councilwoman maximum political damage and personal embarrassment.

The e-mails, which appeared briefly on the Web site of the Louisiana Justice Institute, headed by Washington, contain disparaging references to City Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson and other public figures.

In an exchange of messages with Councilwoman Shelley Midura, Head refers to Clarkson as "an ASSS" and "a disaster" and says, "I am so tired of her old time politico bs I can't stand it." Midura replies, "I know -- jackie just literally pays lip service to us, and it ain't workin anymore."

Head also rails in the messages against figures she has publicly attacked, such as former city technology chief Anthony Jones and Treme activist Jerome Smith, whom she refers to as "Gerome Wilson." She says the fact that Jones still holds a high-paying city job is "FREAKIN INSANITY" and accuses Smith of "blatantly racist statements . . . filled with hate" at a council meeting.

Head ridiculed the purchases of a woman using food stamps in line ahead of her in a message sent from a grocery store. In response, Head, a Democrat, threatened to vote for "the freak" John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential candidate, and his "trash bag" running mate, Sarah Palin.

Good golly, if you wouldn't say it out loud, you certainly shouldn't write it out as an email or txt msg.

Your granny's rules of etiquette still apply, especially in the age of the internet.

I don’t know anything about these players, but as a general rule I find it amazing that someone can get a hold of someone else’ eMail, and distribute part or all of it for ANY purpose.

Why hasn’t this been made illegal? Even the unauthorized possession should be actionable.

If you are in legal; you can pretty much get a hold of anything.

Just by doing preliminary research, all of these city council people sound like horrible people.

With due cause, I would support it. Without due cause, I sure wouldn’t.

I believe our public officials should have a reasonable assumption of privacy, unless a court order were needed for some legal reason.

In a normal setting, I believe our government officials should be able to conduct business in private. If a crime is suspected, then yes open things up for cause. Otherwise negotiations are very difficult to conduct in private, and I think that’s a problem.

Anotherwords, it would be hard to conduct negotiations without revealing sensitive information, something an official should be able to do.

Well I don’t know a lot but it looks like she was corresponding with the lady who posted it. Whatever you send is indeed fair game.

If I indeed missed that fact, then I would agree with your take on it.

This seemed to imply some sort of subterfuge was involved.

Hmmm I don’t know what irregular channels are but you are right it does look fishy. Truthfully I was just enjoying a Democrat getting eaten alive by her own.

And I don’t blame you at all for that. It is interesting when they get caught in their own traps.

What bothers me, is that these tactics appears borderline illegal, and every so often the Democrats use these tactics on Republicans, get their hands slapped and go on about their business.

There’s just no down side for criminality when it comes to the Democrats.
