NEA & NARAL get another soldier into Congress (Judy Chu). Hispanics split their vote up in this majority-Hispanic district that includes east L.A.

GOP would have had an outside shot in the runoff if they had succeeded in nominating their preferred candidate, Hernandez. But Betty Chu was the top GOP vote-getter due to the name confusion.

In the Chu vs. Chu July runoff, the GOP will have no chance.

I seriously don’t see how the GOP had any actual chance of winning this Congressional seat, no matter who runs on the GOP side.

in a special election with low turnout, an Hispanic GOPer could have made it competitive against Chu. The Latinos are pissed off about this one.

In any event, it could not have turned out any worse than it did. Judy Chu was the worst of the bunch.

“Chu will face Republican Betty Chu in a July 14 special election runoff, but is expected to easily prevail in the heavily-Democratic district.”

It’s a damn shame this didn’t happen in Chattanooga.
