The Obama administration’s proposed mileage standards that were announced may kill more Americans at a faster rate than the Iraq War — his signature issue in the 2008 presidential campaign.
Obama’s standards will require automakers to meet a 35 miles-per-gallon standard by 2016 — four years earlier than the same standard imposed by the Energy Security and Independence Act of 2007.
As discussed in my new book Green Hell, the only way for carmakers to meet these standard is to make smaller, lighter and deadlier cars.
The National Academy of Sciences has linked mileage standards with about 2,000 deaths per year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that every 100-pound reduction in the weight of small cars increases annual traffic fatalities by as much as 715.
In contrast in the more than six years since the Iraq war began, there have been 4,296 deaths among American military personnel.
And what will be gained by the new mileage standards?
The Natural Resources Defense Council said that the 35 MPG standard would save about one million gallons of gas per day. So how does that savings balance against the 2,000 fatalities per year that the National Academy of Sciences says are caused by those same lighter cars?
For the sake of being utilitarian, let’s generously assume that the mileage standards reduced the price of gasoline by $1. That would translate to daily savings of $1 million. Is that savings worth killing more than five people per day, plus other non-fatal injuries and property damage?
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency -– for the purposes of risk assessment -– values a single human life at $6.9 million dollars. So under the new mileage standards, it would cost about $35 million per day in human lives to save $1 million in gas.

I’m 6’4”, 240 lbs., I won’t be buying one of these tiny, whimpy small cars that I can’t fit into.
This is true, and additionally solves other problems:
1. Dead people produce no further carbon emissions. In fact, they essentially become carbon.
2. Dead people do not reproduce, thus reducing the “carbon load” on the planet.
That makes Zerobama a 100% bona fide hypocrite like Al Gore. He is living in Planet Gore.
The hidden agenda is depopulation spelled with a D and ends with an N.
How can a world government be sustained if they do not drastically depopulate by ~4 billion?

The new crash survivability standard will be titled “CCu” units....1-10, 10 being the most completely crushed in a collision. “CCu” is acronym for “crushable coffin units”.
Maybe this is how they plan to get rid of those 20MM Americans that Ayers wanted to kill.

Ask yourself when you watch these where the passengers’ legs go in a crash. They appear to be trash compacted underneath your airbag-supported chest and you’ll be a paraplegic at best.
But that’s no problem to Democrats. More smart cars mean more cripples in wheelchairs and more cripples in wheelchairs mean more welfare cases who will owe their survival to the Democrats. See how this works?

With lower gasoline consumption and less CO2 emissions, one asks, what happens to the gasoline we don't use? The answer is that someone else uses it. There is always another country that will buy the gas we don't use. And, the C02 emissions will be done by someone else. Earth to DemonRATS: There be no saving of the planet by the Global Warming Enviroweenies.
We will think that at least our new 35.5 mpg cars, that we spent an additional $1000 or $2000, will at least pay for themselves with lower fuel costs. While we are loving the idea of lower gas bills, the government is losing gasoline tax revenue. What do you think will happen? Yep, higher gas taxes. So, the money you would be saving will be money going to the government: a redistribution scheme. Makes you wonder if this entire scheme was to raise taxes. Yep!
Summary: More deaths; higher insurance premiums; higher taxes to pay for more law enforcement; more regulations, court costs, and fines; higher auto costs; and higher gas taxes. I may have forgotten a few other costs (you can add a few that you think of), but when you add them all up, you could buy a hell of a lot of gasoline for what this all is going to cost us. And, of course, the cost of one human being = priceless.
My answer: Drill, baby, drill!"
