Supermodel Iman: Michelle Obama ‘Not a Great Beauty’

(May 20, 2009) - According to famed supermodel Iman, the lithe, Somalia-born fashionista married to rocker David Bowie, first lady Michelle Obama is “not a great beauty.”

In a recent interview with Parade magazine, the 53-year-old model and cosmetic line owner said, “Mrs. Obama is not a great beauty. But she is so interesting looking and so bright. That will always take you farther. When you’re a great beauty, it’s always downhill for you. If you’re someone like Mrs. Obama, you just get better with age.”

Despite the model’s comments, the first lady was recently named No. 3 on Maxim magazine’s top 100 hot celebrity women’s list.

Iman also told Parade about the racism she encountered during her rise to fame in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Here's what I don't get: Iman is from Somalia, so what the hell business does she have using American slave terminology? The woman was never a slave, and she is not an American. In fact, this woman has been living a privileged life far beyond the aspirations of most white people in the US, and all based on the fact that she was born pretty, and yet she's dragging out old US slave terms to act as if she is some kind of oppressed person? Bah. The civil rights movement, somewhere along the way, became an evil excuse to hate whitey, and now you don't even have to be a descendant of slaves to claim victimhood and hate whitey too! Whoopee!
