Mr Lazarus, you wuz better off dead! I see nowhere where it says (or appears to say) that good credit card customers are going to subsidize the bad ones. By “good” I mean those that pay their balance off every month, because what fool would borrow money at 10, 15, 18%, when free money is available, and when the banks scramble offering teaser 0 or 1.99% rates which you can use forever, transferring from one account to another as the first rate expires? Bought my cars, paid my mortgages and taxes this way, the banks are still sending me such offers.
Yes if you close the accounts it may go down depending on how long you’ve had them, if they close them your scores will go down more. You should pull a credit report and see where you are at, our scoreis really high and we’ve closed all but our AMEX card, and if they pull any crap we will close it also.
What I’ll do at the end of the month when I pay them off is simply not use them. The one I don’t get any rewards on (B/A) but the other one I get a point for each dollar spent and when I get 3,000 point I get a $30 gift card; I’m almost there now. Anyway, what I’ll do is just put them away and use my debit card - I get “keep the change” thing from B/A ... my CS is mid 700’s ....
Huh? “Leaches”?? If they make their payments and pay the interest, they are not leeches. I hope I’m just missing your sarcasm.
“I hope Im just missing your sarcasm.”
I have nothing but contempt for anyone that lives on credit.
