Obama: North Korea 'Recklessly Challenging' International Community
Fox News ^ | Monday, May 25, 2009 | James Rosen and Greg Palkot and The Associated Press

North Korea's nuclear test is a "matter of grave concern," President Obama said Monday, as officials in Washington accused the rogue regime of blatantly defying the international community.

The communist country said it had carried out a powerful underground nuclear test, much larger than one conducted in 2006. The regime also test-fired three short-range, ground-to-air missiles later Monday from the same northeastern site where it launched a rocket last month, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing unnamed sources.

The twin moves were roundly condemned in Washington.

"These actions, while not a surprise given its statements and actions to date, are a matter of grave concern to all nations," Obama said in a written statement, calling them an apparent violation of international law. "North Korea's attempts to develop nuclear weapons, as well as its ballistic missile program, constitute a threat to international peace and security."

How about recklessly defying?

Nah, too obvious for the captain.

I can't say that I blame Obama for the N. Korean mess-- this has been a bi-partisan goat rope from the get-go.

But I am tired of the pretense that we are going to actually stop N. Korea's WMD programs.

“Hours after North Korea’s missile test, President Obama...called for new United Nations sanctions and laid out a new approach to American nuclear disarmament policy — one intended to strengthen the United States and its allies in halting proliferation”.....

North Korean Nuclear Test Catches U.S. by Surprise

North Korea’s decision to detonate a nuclear device underground Monday caught the United States by surprise, officials said.

“They didn’t give us any warning whatsoever,” one senior U.S. intelligence official who works on North Korean issues told FOX News.

Another official told Reuters that North Korea gave less than an hour’s notice to the United States that it would carry out the test.

The official said the communist country made “no demands,” and passed on the message that it would carry out the test through diplomats at the United Nations in New York City.

The senior intelligence official said that even after the demonstration at the Punggye nuclear test site, the only evidence of activity that analysts could see in aerial imagery was a “couple of spoil sites,” or large holes.

What I am concerned about is the dolt in the White House.

Right now, he's more dangerous to America than NK.

This nation will never recover from the 0bama administration. This is a disaster waiting to happen and there would be hope with a Civil War, but with all our international enemies ready to pounce on the traitors they know we have as ‘leaders’ you can kiss our nation goodbye. This is the worst fears come to life with no strong nations all gone down with liberalism. They all have blood on their hands. The United States took the fall from within by putting these radicals in control of our government. I’m still amazed by those who laugh off the Bible and religion and such when it seems everything is going according to scripture and there are weapons that could ‘end the world and things sure aren’t looking so good.

Don’t be so hasty with your demeaning opinion of our POTUS. Allow him to put on his presidential kneepads first. I am afraid that the international situation is way over his head and that of his cabinet’s. I wonder how much of a payoff the NKs will be getting in our tax dollars.

The Kenyan now has the opportunity to show what he is made of.

President in Waiting Pelosi has weighed in from China:

“If today’s announcement is true, these tests would be a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1718, which requires that North Korea not conduct any further nuclear tests. Such action by North Korea is unacceptable and cause for great alarm,” Pelosi said...

This Chicago admin is too busy terrorizing it's own citizens and unleashing it's media dogs on Christian women and college kids to deal with any international thugs.

Isn't that how all weenie bullies work?

Terrorize those in your own house, but you can't stand up to the really big threats.

The international crooks know how it works...

The main constitutional job of the President is to protect the US from enemies as Commander in Chief. Instead of concentrating on that function, the presidency has evolved into one of policy making and social engineering. Health care reform, Cap and Trade etc. are not what the presidency is supposed to be concentrating on. If the President of the US was chosen specifically for their ability and commitment to keep the US safe, the political process would be much different, and in my opinion we’d be much better off. The presidency should never have become inflated to the point it is today.

I never really believed Democrats were anti-war. They were anit-Republican. When they were all sitting on the side line making it difficult for President Bush to do things on the international stage they never thought about what was going to happen when a Democrat got into office.

They can attempt to blame the previous administration all they want, but if one of those insane nations actually uses one of these devices the blame will be theirs.

Unfortunately that will be of little comfort to the millions that will die in the initial attack and the war that follows.
