Just read this over at National Review:

She has an extremely high rate of her decisions being reversed, indicating that she is far more of a liberal activist than even the current liberal activist Supreme Court.

FIRST DU comment on the pick:

“It will be a disastrous appointment, unless we are very, very lucky. I don’t think Obama knows how to play for keeps.”

Great. Scalia will tap-dance all over this pick.

Don’t worry. This will mean a great court fight and lot’s of fundraising for the RNC. Oh, don’t worry, Scottish Law Arlen will line up behind Sotomayor and Hussein will get his East German Judge, but bear in mind, this will be good for us.

Best,

Chris

“HAD” diabetes? Nope, she HAS diabetes. And that might be a good thing, because she will likely not live as long as recent Justices are wont to do.

Pardon the un-PC.

You want judges on the Supreme Court who can rationally apply Federal law, not emotive leftist activists.

Google her and read all about it.

She was initially recommended by Moynihan of NY to GHW Bush.

Then she was nominated for the Appeals Court by bubba.

The repubs had a hold on her nomination because they feared she would be nominated to the USSC.

Trent Lott caved and allowed her to be voted on and she won with 67 votes. PUKE

This is GREAT news to celebrate. Sotomayor is a moron, by far the most intellectually inferior of the choices. This means she will have no ability to sway Kennedy or other justices to her side on swing issues. Kagan and Wood were known to be very charismatic and able to influence others to their side. Also there is controversy about her comments regarding judicial activism, which was littered with the pedestrian language she is typical of, and which shows her lack of intellectual rigor. This is the best of a bad bunch for us.

DailyKOS and DU are going to have a fit about her age and health.

54 years old? That's not old for a SCOTUS nominee. She would be tied with Roberts for the youngest. Diabetes might be a more important factor.

Not anymore she won't. The only persons who will be able to reverse her decisions are Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito.

Obama might as welll have nominated Che, but since he's dead, Barack went with Sotomayor.

"I would have served, but I'm dead...."

Best,

Chris

The Bronx native looks great on paper and would make perfect politics as the first Hispanic on the high court.

But there's growing consensus among insiders that President Obama will likely pick someone else.

The first, and possibly most important, reason is the prevailing question among liberal advocates about whether Sotomayor has the judicial guts, smarts and toughness to go up against Antonin Scalia, the famously sharp conservative who anchors the right wing of today's court.

Sotomayor, 54 and with Puerto Rican roots, certainly has that common touch and real-world experience that tops Obama’s list of qualifications.

But so much early discussion about her nomination has revealed reservations on the left and the right about her judicial and intellectual heft, as well as her courtroom decorum.

Sotomayor supporters observe she was named to the federal district bench in 1991 by President George H.W. Bush, a Republican.

True, but she was picked by former Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a Democrat, under a previously struck deal, and the Bush administration was none too pleased with her.
