175 arrested at California gay marriage ban protest (Drama queens)

Around 175 people were arrested in San Francisco while taking part in peaceful protests against a California Supreme Court decision to uphold a ban on same-sex marriage, police said.

A spokeswoman for the San Francisco Police Department said the arrests came as demonstrators blocked an intersection near the court building.

Those arrested were released at the scene, Sergeant Lyn Tomioka told AFP.

California's Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a referendum that outlawed gay marriage, but said 18,000 same-sex weddings carried out before the ban would remain valid.

Gay and lesbian activists had sought to overturn the result of a November referendum, known as Proposition 8, which redefined marriage in California as being unions between men and women only....

"There's no way to sugarcoat it; this is a very sad day for our community," said Shannon Minter, legal director for the National Center for Lesbian Right and an attorney who argued in court for the referendum to be overturned....

"Today's decision is a victory for democracy and a victory for the civil rights of clergy, county clerks and Californians across the political spectrum who did not want to be forced by the government to approve of same-sex marriage," said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, a conservative group that supported Proposition 8.

As usual, the homosexuals and other registered democrats think only of themselves.

I wonder what the worthless bastards would have done if an ambulance or fire truck needed to pass by in order to help save the lives of innocent people?

There are scumbags, and then there are self-obsessed homosexuals.

I believe what I have always believed - that homosexuality is wrong and that it should in no way be supported by the state. Puts me directly at odds with a certain SF brother-in-law. Oh well.

Does that mean they’re headed to “pound-me-in-the-butt” prison?

Somehow that doesn’t seem like an appropriate punishment...

the crowd became quite unruly. Apparently, two gay men attacked an old lady ...one of them held her down and the other one did her hair.

Puts me directly at odds with a certain SF brother-in-law.

Maybe you should ask him, why, if he empathizes with their cause so much, he doesn't "join them," and strike a blow for freedom?

Sounds more like they got a ticket, rather then being arrested.

Dollars to donuts says most of these........... ah.. people (being polite)... never pay dime one for this "arrest".

Peaceful protest? Homosexuals never hold “peaceful” protests. It is always like they are off their meds at protests.

And yet tea-party tax-protests are the subject of national security scrutiny... has America completly forgotten about [sane] prioritization?

Those arrested were released at the scene!?

It's overwhelmingly obvious that this was staged by a sympathetic homo-mayor and city government who wanted to portray homo-activists as downtrodden and arrested for a "good" cause. The city played a part in the "protest." Pathetic in its transparent guise.

No it happened in San Francisco where if you were to assault JESUS CHRIST on a street corner and get a notice to appear but if you accost a fag you’ll go directly to jail. You will not pass go and you will not collect $200.00

If you think for one minute that the homos won’t resort to murder for revenge, you’re wrong. Anyone connected with Prop 8 should seek maximum personal security if they want to continue breathing in SF!

“released at the scene”?

Unlike Norma McCorvey, Father Norm, and the other protesters at Notre Dame, who were booked and taken to jail; some were held several days.

Some protesters are more equal than other protesters.
