WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House says North Korea's threats against South Korea will not give it the attention Pyongyang wants and will only add to its isolation.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that North Korea should live up to its promises and stop its provocations against the South.
Pyongyang says Seoul's decision to join an international nuclear anti-proliferation program is tantamount to a declaration of war. The North warned of military strikes and declared their 1953 armistice null and void.

Kind of like the Clinton anti-terrorism expert who downplayed the threat of Al Qaeda in an August 2001 New York Times editorial.
Yeah, that'll do it.
Phew! Crisis averted
VIDEO:Gibbs: 'Threats Won't Get N Korea The Attention It Craves'
So do not be shocked if a diferent statement is flip flopped completely different at any time from the WH or Clinton. Obama thinks he is playing a cool video game or something and does not have a clue what he is doing.
That's because it was a matter of law enforcement/sarc
The DemocRATS are going to stick their heads in the sand and take the ostrich approach. That should make us all safer. /sarc
Sticking your head in the sand will NOT make it go away.
nothing to see here, move along now
Well Obama will have a completely different statement he is awaiting Soro’s to tell him what to say. Soro’s sux at military affairs so we are fricked.
'Administration downplays effect of 500 thousand screaming commie stormtroopers pouring over 38th parallel.'
Ignore a problem and it will go away. It worked with the Harvard Transcripts, the cocaine use, and the birth certificate. Why wouldn't he think that is the way to handle the NK's. This man has skated through everything in life and never was called on anything.
Unfortunately, we are all now in the same chicken coop as all the chickens come home to roost.
It's going to be quite a party.
Let’s bomb Iran - show NK that we mean it. Hey didn’t we bomb Iraq to send bin Laden a message.
If you stop and think about this... Obama wants kaos so he and Soro’s can say the U.N.- LOL and global gubberment will save all.
Oh you of little faith. The Kenyan savior will lead us through the mushroom cloud, unscathed.
Hmmmmmmm. Downplaying the noise and threats from that little midget in North Korea - NOT jumping right up and responding to every little belch or fart from the little guy.
Where have I heard that before? WAIT! I KNOW! That's the strategy our LAST president chose for dealing with North Korea. And if I remember correctly, while he was running for office, our CURRENT president mercilessly criticized our previous president as a foreign policy failure for choosing that strategy. Our current president once (well, to be accurate, WAY more than once...) said HE would "fix" our foreign policy by "engaging" our enemies and improving our stature in the world.
So, shouldn't he be "dialoging", perhaps even "sharing a bowl", with that cunning little runt even as I am writing this? What's going on? What's the hold up? I mean, he IS a "New Kind of Politician", isn't he? When, oh when, is the Obamessiah going to make this all better so we can get on with more hoping and changing?
The whole point is the lil commie weasal and all other rogue countries didn’t pull this saber rattling crap until idiot green peace we are the world marxist got into office.
Obama probably wants to see if the EBS tone on TV really works. Seriously God help us all.
Riiiiight, they only built one to get some attention
Obama is about to send South Korea “under the bus”.
along with Israel. Rahm is a good cover...

Right. Obama will sell-out South Korea, Japan and whoever else it takes to keep the crazies quiet so he is not distracted from his goal of "remaking" America as a Marxist dream. In the process he will motivate our former allies to strengthen their militaries and go nuclear, if they can.
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.
Kick the can down the road ... the mantra since 1953 ...
steele in his spine? LMAO!
And our press downplays Obamma lamma ding dong negative impact on America.
This statement is a provocation. Telling someone who is unstable and threatening force that you are going to ignore him/her is not a good idea. Imagine a person dialing 911 and saying "I have a gun and I am going to use it". Do you think the operator would say "I'm not going to give you the attention you want". Obama is about to have a lot of blood on his hands and he has no clue. This is not going to end well.
No different than bubba ignoring the downing of Flight 800.
Ignoring all terror attacks rather than responding.
HA!!
So Pyongyang feels obligated to nuke the south.
Great.
I'm patiently awaiting the prediction the greeeeeeeat Joe "Plugs" Biden made coming to fruition.
After all we quickly approach the national crisis the prophet predicted would occur 6 months into zerO's term, eh.
Good grief.
One way or the other we'll all see what the zerO has, or hasn't.
We’ll see one of our ships attacked when BO leaves the the north with no choice but to back up their bluster. I hope our sailors at sea are on the alert for action.
Obama is hoping that North Korea nukes Anchorage.
Pyongyang says Seoul's decision to join an international nuclear anti-proliferation program is tantamount to a declaration of war. The North warned of military strikes and declared their 1953 armistice null and void.
Good grief, even Russia and China are concerned. Have Obama and Gibbs been hitting the bong this weekend with there “no worries, Mon” approach.
Maybe it is just me, but if this is a case of the nutcase leader of NK blustering for attention I would worry that dismissing his actions might be a catalyst for him to rachet everything up a notch. I don’t know that seeming to ignore or brush off what he is doing is the right thing to do. Might be enough to make him take action when otherwise he might not have.
We have many troops with a front row seat to whatever takes place there- so I ask everyone for extra prayers for them.
Is it steel in his spine or a stick up his @$$.
I know our policy has been to not make a big deal out of Jong-Il’s tirades, and I am not an expert- don’t have any idea what we should do. I don’t remember the previous administration making statements that pretty much say straight out to ignore him he is full of it- that seems a little dangerous to me- like we are daring him to do something or putting him in a corner where he thinks he has to do something extreme. Ignoring him is one thing- I don’t think we need to officially state we are ignoring him or don’t believe what he says.
Many say Jong-Il is crazy (he certainly acts the part) I do have some experience with crazy people. I had a really nutty neighbor- I used to ignore her as much as I could, and tried not to respond to her nutty tirades. It worked out well, we never had actual fights. My oldest daughter once told the neighbor straight out that she was nutty and not making sense one day- oh my that put the lady right over the top and she had a major tirade that lasted for days. That’s why I understand having a policy of ignoring someone like Jong-Il, and using that to keep it hopefully low key- but I don’t think it is a good idea to tell him we are ignoring him. That’s just me.
The Korean Peoples Army will not be bound to the Armistice Agreement any longer, the official Korean Central News Agency said in a statement today. Any attempt to inspect North Korean vessels will be countered with prompt and strong military strikes.

and obambi’s answer is he won’t give NK any publicity.
Well he won’t need to. NK nukes going off over SK and killing a thousand U.S. troops will be publicity enough do you hear this obambi!
Good. I hope the 5-year-old-equivalent, foreign citizen, with the name Hussein, is $hitting his pants. May he be brought down to the pit of hell.
I/WE KNOW NOTHING!
