Life's not easy if you're an organic-eating, tree-hugging, SUV-eschewing, carbon-footprintless, gender-identity-indifferent, diversity-celebrating, nonjudgmental (well, except for those damn U.S. flag pins) vegan pacifist. Just ask Gerald and Helen Goode, the First Couple of PC America.
They forget to check a box when adopting an African baby, and when little Ubuntu arrives, he's a white South African. They cart home free elephant dung from Barnum & Bailey for their organic garden, then remember that the circus exploits animals. They've raised their dog Che to be a vegan, but the neighborhood sure has a lot of missing squirrels.
Welcome to The Goode Family, a scathingly funny report from the front lines of America's culture wars. This new ABC adult cartoon, produced by Beavis and Butt-Head mastermind Mike Judge and his King of the Hill buddies John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky,...
Though it will no doubt be labeled right-wing agitprop by some of its trashed targets, The Goode Family is not really conservative, but something closer to the barbed libertarianism of South Park. What the show is really mocking is groupthink conformity...Set in a more-progressive-than-thou college town where shoppers at the supermarket gasp in horror if somebody arrives at the checkout counter without his own reusable grocery bag, The Goode Family mercilessly lampoons characters who conduct their lives by the watchword WWAGD, What Would Al Gore Do?...
...When Gerald, a college administrator, tells his boss his department needs more funding to improve the percentage of minority employees, the boss replies: ``Or we could just fire three white guys. Everybody wins!'' How long do you think it will be before we hear a joke like that from Jay or Dave?

That show sounds like it’s bordering on being a hate crime.
I find Mike Judge productions to be not bad, but not funny either. If King of the Hill had been a drama, there’d have been a reason to watch it. As it was, I can find more satisfying material not to laugh at.
Should be a funny show, but it’s typical of Judge to temper his criticism of liberalism by getting in some barbs at Christians. Calling the abstinence group “creepy” and saying they marry their fathers is absurd.
1 Cor. 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing..”
I thought it was pretty funny when Grampa stole Gen. Santana’s wooden leg.
Don’t think I’ll be wasting my time to watch it.
When I looked for it, I couldn’t find it on the website, so I grabbed the one in the Miami Herald. It is the same article. My search skills must be rusty, because I kept getting a different article on the same show.
They drive a Yugo?
>That show sounds like its bordering on being a hate crime.
Now you’re just TRYING to get me to watch it, aren’t you? ;)
Ubuntu the adopted white South African sounds like comedy gold.
Yeah man, I tell ya what, man. That dang ol’ King of the Hill, man. You just go there and change the channel. You got NBCABCCBSFOX. Need a dang remote.
You sound like a real fun person to be around.....NOT!
And yet you wasted time reading the post and replying to it.
Where's the logic in that?
Probably based on Mr Driessen from "Beavis and Butthead."
I don't watch stupid things like this but I passionately hate everyone that resembles that family!
Will they be painting their roof white?
You just know the enviro wackos are in deep trouble when an animated program starts making fun of the cause...and is on ABC to boot.
I found it hilarious that th Goode family’s dog is a vegan, (not self-imposed) and is so hungry for meat he runs around killing all the little animals...too rich!!!
"Office Space" is one of the funniest films ever made. An American classic.
I doubt it will top South Park...but it may be worth a watch....Office Space is one of the funniest film’s ever made...imho.
What would Al Gore do? Not hard to figure.
Ring the cash register.
Go to the bank.
Call in the pilot and crank up the jet for a round robin.
They are talking about this:
The Father Daughter Purity Ball is a memorable ceremony for fathers to sign commitments to be responsible men of integrity in all areas of purity. The commitment also includes their vow to protect their daughters in their choices for purity. The daughters silently commit to live pure lives before God through the symbol of laying down a white rose at the cross. Because we cherish our daughters as regal princessesfor 1 Peter 3:4 says they are precious in the sight of Godwe want to treat them as royalty.
The first 5 minutes were funny as all get out! You go Mike Judge!
“’Office Space’ is one of the funniest films ever made. An American classic.”
When I first saw “Office Space,” I didn’t think much of it. But it held up surprisingly well. Much better than the more popular fare that has been forgotten in the intervening years. It may very well end up being a classic.
That being said, I don’t remember laughing out loud, except at Stephen Root and the comment about Jews wearing pieces of flair. Not an uproarious movie. Yet, as I said, perhaps infinitely rewatchable.
First of all, I read the post to see what other people had to say. Secondly, I don't think that offering my input is a waste of time. It took me all of about 15 seconds to type my one line. Seems you may need a lesson on time perception.
Watching now. I LOVE THIS SHOW! It is literally one of the funniest half-hour comedies I have ever seen.
Judge is running through all the whacko stuff pretty fast. It is hilarious though. Me thinks he doesn’t expect ABC to keep it for long.
This is hilarious! Dead on description of idiot tree huggers!
It won’t last long, but I admit to laughing.
“What’s important is that you feel guilty about it”. lol
They really nailed it.
I give it 6 weeks.
Of course this means it's doomed, like all my otehr favorites.
It pegged down the PC crowd perfecty. I never thought I’d see anyone making fun of this on tv.
I think though, that the difference between King of the Hill and this is that the KotH characters are at least likeable. These people are irritating, anal, liberal, tree-hugging nitwits. Sigh. It won’t last.
I’ll jump on the bandwagon: pretty good show. Won’t last. The people who watch network TV won’t want to watch this. It will make them feel uncomfortable.
I loved all of the display of Enviro-weenie idiot-ism that is out there.
And yet here you are, spending even more time on it.........
I liked the reaction to the flag pin. Like a cross shown to a vampire.
“Watching now. I LOVE THIS SHOW! It is literally one of the funniest half-hour comedies I have ever seen.”
I hope this show lasts. I thought it was very funny. I love Che the dog.
I found the show disappointing. It wasn’t that funny. In the end, it made fun of Christians as more freakish than liberals, for valuing chastity. Liberals meanwhile, were again praised for having their hearts in the right place. On the other hand, the somewhat normal daughter seems to be a secret conservative. The son was just disturbing.
I think this sort of thing may be a bit much, but it does not in any way imply that these girls will marry their fathers.
I guess you have a hard time comprehending. In my first reply, I said I wasn't going to waste my time watching the show. I said nothing about spending my time reading or posting comments.
I don't think I can make it any clearer. Maybe you are the one wasting your time replying to me!
