Republican Donors Hit by Chrysler Closings
News Max ^

Posted on 05/27/2009 5:25:31 PM PDT by Ooh-Ah

Increasing numbers of Chrysler dealers are disputing the bankrupt automaker’s claim that it selected dealerships for closure on purely economic grounds, and they have filed a suit against the automaker in U.S. bankruptcy court.

"My business is being stolen from me under the guise of the bankruptcy laws [and] given to another dealer down the street," Jim Anderer, owner of Island Jeep in Lindenhurst, N.Y., told Reuters.

Like many of the 789 Chrysler dealerships slated for closure, Anderer claims his retail outlet was profitable.

Many of the closed dealers were also major donors to Republican candidates and political action committees,...

This has led to accusations, which Rush Limbaugh aired last week, that President Obama's auto task force has been playing political favorites, first by forcing Chrysler into bankruptcy, and then by targeting dealerships for closure that funded the president’s political enemies.

...

“It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers," Bellavia said. "It really wasn't Chrysler's decision. They are under enormous pressure from the president's automotive task force."

...

One company that stands to benefit in a major way from the Chrysler restructuring is called RLJ-McLarty-Landers, a start-up owned by Democratic Party insiders that operates six Chrysler dealerships throughout the South.

Co-owners Robert L. Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, and Mack McLarty, chief of staff to president Bill Clinton, provided capital and political clout to the partnership, which they formed in September 2007.

...

According to another blog, RLJ-McCarty-Landers will retain all of its six dealerships, while “eight competing dealerships [will be] totally eliminated from three of their markets.”

Well nobody I know will ever buy a vehicle from them again.

You may not need to ever buy another vehicle if he has his way with Cap & Trade. Most of us will no longer be able to afford fuel to run one then.

I guess they think we will be more able to subject if we no longer have mobility.

I might have to saddle up our mare and ride her instead.

If not then, then at what point do people realise he’s a traitor bent on destroying America? I know the far left makes a lot of noise, but I can’t believe that the majority of people will accept this much less support it.

The Republicans in Congress remind me of the Bushes and Gerry Ford, God Rest his soul. Don’t be too critical or stir up anything becuase the Dems do allow you to golf with them and your kids attend the same private schools and “right” colleges. Appoint liberals like John Paul Stevens and David Souter to the court so you don’t draw negative remarks from your “friends” like Ted Kennedy. The Dems might even have a drink with you and get their friends in the press to say nice things about you, even if its couched in “and he’s a Republican, of all things”. I’ve had more ardent Democrats tell me how much the “admire” George Bush, Sr. or Gerry Ford. I didn’t then and don’t now.

Umm - you can....until the Animal Rights Activist arm of the Obama system outlaws that. Remember how he gushed over China’s infastructure after the Olympics?

1st open gun grab will trigger a blow-back.

I expect the 10th amendment movements at the state level to trigger real alarm bells in Washington in the near future.

Cap & Trade would single out and punish the Oil producing states. Texas will now allow this to happen. Secession is an unthinkable option, but it could happen. If it did it would not only be Texas, but they might be the 1st.

The administration is clearly operating outside their authority under the constitution. The courts will not touch it yet.

As they peer into the Abyss they are rapidly approaching, they had best consider carefully the consequences.

Rose (the mare) will let me shoot while riding.

I don’t think the Animal Rights activist will fare well in an attempt to meddle with Texas. Their predecessors failed miserably.

I don’t think they’ll attempt a gun grab because they know to avoid that trip wire. They might take over the ammunitions manufacturers though. As it is, we haven’t been able to find ammo here for three months.

Primers are the issue. The rest can be had. Bullets can be cast (poor substitute) or formed (swedged and pressed).

I do not fear my neighbors and friends, and people from out of state should think twice about trying to subject Texas. It was tried before and failed miserably.

There is no reason to panic yet. But this will not naturally heal itself.

It appears to me to be hunker down and prepare time.

There will be no financial recovery until Obozo is out of office.

No human can predict the outcome of this.

During the 2008 election cycle, the center found that auto dealers and their associated political action committees made a total of $9 million in campaign contributions, giving by a 3-to-1 margin to Republicans.

Here's the baseline. It would be a somewhat tedious job to match up all the Chrysler dealerships nationwide with the FEC records and see if the pattern of closures deviated significantly from the 3-1 ratio, but 20 people could do it in an afternoon. Sounds like a great intern project.

I’m sure the MSM will be all over this story. I can’t wait for the White House press conference where every reporter will demand to know if the president and his administration are corrupt and targeting political opponents illegally. The 60 minutes story exposing this travesty, as well as how the administration attempted to bully and smear secured creditors of Chrysler, will be simply delicious.

This whole action is so cold and calculating .. I’m beginning to believe what Rush said about Obama .. “The guy’s just COLD”.

Anybody who can destroy the livelyhood of another person because of how he votes or donates his money is truly scary.

I agree with you .. I too sense some really bad stuff coming our way.

And .. the GOP seems oblivious to what’s really going on. It’s really sad.
