SNIPPET: “Hamburg/Tegucigalpa - A strong quake measuring at least 7.1 points struck offshore from the Central American country of Honduras early Thursday. US seismology officials put the strength of the quake at 7.1 points, but the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said it measured 7.3 points.”
SNIPPET: “The 30-second quake was caused by a collision between the Caribbean and North American plates, said seismography expert Gonzalo Carias from the Honduras National Autonomous University.
US seisomology officials said the quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres and some 320 kilometres north-east of the capital Tegucigalpa.
The quake occurred at a distance of 63 kilometres from the touristic Roatan Islands, according to reports in Spain.”

We have friends who live in Honduras. I had an email from them early this AM. They said they all ran out of their home because it was so intense, and they are far away from where that earthquake hit, way up in the mountains. They’re due to travel to the one of othe major cities today, with no way to check on the roads before they go, so they might have to end up just turning around and coming home.

I have friends from there as well. Haven’t been able to communicate with them for a long time so I have no way to check.
God be with them. AT least the wife knows The Lord.

The watch was canceled. No tsunami.
This was on a strike-slip fault (side to side with limited bottom displacement) so causing one would have been unlikley.
To: Strategerist
I am here scuyba diving...woke us up last night...very scary...may have new dive sites...since 2 famous sites here were formed due to earthquakes...
Mary’s Place and Calvin’s Crackkk...if there are any news worthy photos, I’ll post...but so far just things from shelves, and stuff that used to be on the walls are now on the floor...
Bats went crazy for a while...
We also noticed yesterday on an afternoon dive many large fish up in the shallows...many here wondering if some how the larger fish were somehow aware...guess we will never know...
OH well not much more for now...

Thank God for this good news.
I can't help but think of "there will be rumors of war and earthquakes in divers places," compiled with the general bad being represented as good and good being represented as bad.

I helped build a church building right on the coast almost directly south of the quake. (Actually a little south east in Sante Fe, near Colon.)
I'm sure the building is undamaged! I built it well...

The world is actually more peaceful now than it’s ever been, and earthquake activity worldwide is at normal levels.
This is a well-known fault that has produced large earthquakes before.
To: unkus
Yeah. Me, too.

I know there have always been and will always be calamities and earthquakes. I can’t say I feel the peace. America in itself is in a cultural warfare and great divide.
To: Quix
It’s a Third World country and from what I have heard, I wouldn’t want to live there. Leave it up to 0bama and we’ll be in the same shape.
