First GOP senator pledges vote against Sotomayor @ 10:30 am by Michael O'Brien

Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) became the first senator Thursday to go on the record to say that he would vote against Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court.

While many Republicans have opted to keep their powder dry, issuing statements about carefully reviewing President Obama's pick to join the high court, Roberts flatly stated he wouldn't support Sotomayor.

"I do not plan to vote for her," Roberts told radio host Chris Stigall on KCMO Talk Radio 710 this morning.

"I voted no in 1998. I did not feel she was appropriate on the appeals court," Roberts said. "Since that time, she has made statements on the role of the appeals court I think is improper and incorrect."

Other lawmakers have expressed similar complaints about Sotomayor, but no others have yet come out to state that they'll vote against her.

Good! At least we have one who has seen enough of her ‘compelling story’.

Voting against this woman should be a no-brainer for the GOP on constitutional grounds alone. But there’s this thing about the GOP and brains...

But filibuster a racist?

No way.

Worthless Senate. Worthless Senators.

Who cares. The rest of the RINO front will lay down in the name of "capturing the Hispanic vote".

The maroons of the Republican party continue their suicide.

What we need is the Republican version of Ted Kennedy stating, as he did with Robert Bork, “I am prepared to oppose this nomination on ideological grounds”.

CA....

Every Republican needs to say:

"I cannot, in good conscience, vote to put a person with racist views on the Supreme Court of the United States."

The Republican Party I want to rejoin would Stand in unison against this racist. They would filibuster everything, vote against everything obama puts forth. Force the Dems to pass all their legislation on their own. When the Republicans take over the House in 2010, Do not appoint any Democrats to ANY COMMITTEES. Do not even allow them to do anything but sit and watch. Investigate every last one of them in Open Public Hearings, Start impeachment proceedings immediately against Obama, with regards to Birth Certificate. Force him to produce it and all School records, as well as how he went to Pakistan when it was ILLEGAL. Impeach All Federal Judges who rule against the Constitution. Implement the Fairness Doctrine but only for Over the Air broadcast TV (abc,nbc,cbs....) Take their license to broadcast away. This is of course just a Starting point.

Should a Republican President be elected in 2012, he should immediately declassify and release All Documents regarding JFK, TWA 800, 911,WACO,RUBY RIDGE,... the list goes on and on. Let them explain to the American Public why these were covered up. Lets not forget that it was Clinton who indirectly gave North Korea Nuclear Technology as well as the Missile System to deploy Nukes (china , North Koreas only Ally)

When the Republicans start standing up for whats right, instead of being lapdogs. I will consider rejoining

The strategy MUST be to use the microphone to pin this back to Obama.

Stress that this racist judicial activist is reflective of Obama’s mind.

Then hammer her with the same questions over and over, as in:

“Ms. Sotomayor, can you give me an example of a case in which your experience as a wise Latina would trump the decisions of white men? Please be specific, we need to clear this up.”

“Can you explain why you stated what you said, seemingly in praise, abiout appellate courts setting policy?”

Ask these in DIFFERENT WAYS, OVER AND OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER.

And play to the voting public. These senators have constituents, and we saw what happened with the closing of Gitmo, because they feared their constituents.

PLAY TO THE CONSTITUENTS.

You got that exactly right. I feel pretty strongly about this. Even if the vote goes her way at least the pubbies stood for an important principle. And, we take this untrue, unfair and infuriating "racist" label war back to them and into their faces.

Let them defend her, not continue to call US racists for opposing someone with her prior comments and actions on the record.

I agree with the previous posters, if the whole GOP cannot vote against this nominee, then they are worse than useless.
