Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly responded on The Factor tonight to criticisms of his attacks last night on Free Republic and Hot Air by the sites' respective founders, Jim Robinson and Michelle Malkin. The segment last night was on reaction by right and left wing websites on the Judge Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court. Free Republic was singled out for an obnoxious comment about Sotomayor being diabetic. Hot Air was singled out for an impolitic strongly worded appeal to block her nomination.
O'Reilly noted Malkin's reaction made on Fox and Friends this morning and Robinson's comments which were posted on Free Republic and e-mailed to The Factor.
O'Reilly agreed that both had points but that the sites should better monitor their comments as he does at his site and that O'Reilly would hold both right and left wing sites accountable.
Hot Air complained that the comment singled out by O'Reilly was labeled a 'blog' entry rather than a comment, thereby leaving the impression it was made by one of the site's official posters.
Jim Robinson's response was boiled down to Jim calling O'Reilly "an elitist gasbag" and noting that offending comments sometimes get past the moderators. O'Reilly did not inform his viewers that Mr. Robinson is a diabetic who has lost family to the disease.
The segment aired about forty minutes into the program tonight.

I stopped watching O’Reilly several years ago. My main complaint was the effort he put into imparting moral equivalency between the left and conservative Christians/Jews.
There is none. If O’Reilly ever bothered himself enough to follow the left’s arguments/positions to their logical conclusions he could not possibly believe, let alone speak, the crap he’s shoveling.
I do make an effort to tune in when he has Coulter on. He thinks he’s exposing her courseness. But she wipes the floor with him every time. He’s so full of himself, he actually believes he cleaned her clock. NOT!.
I never liked the - I watched him and listened to him a few times but there is a fundamental lack of sincerity in his personality, a kind of “blowing you off” , maybe it’s that
big chip he’s carrying on his shoulder . Most people with addiction problems deep down a chip on their shoulder and it eventually comes out or shows itself no matter what age or occupation. Elitist gasbag? hmmmmm deeper and bigger than that for sure

Besides, in the time I have been on FR, I believe we have done pretty good about keeping most of the discussions civil, and when they need to get a little heated, they are still way better than anything you’ll find on the opposite side of the spectrum, like in the democratic underground and the DailyKOS...
Bill the only reasaon you are #1 in cable news is bacause of the timeslot you are in...Switch with a few of the other hosts and their timeslots and lets see what happens...

Thought the same thing. . . democracy???? BOR was too busy thinking about his next “hard hitting” question. And he always “respects” the opposite viewpoint, even if it’s wrong. Hate that.

I quit watching Bill O after the election. Sometimes I'll tune in for about 10 seconds to see if someone is subbing for him.
If you're reading this, Bill, get a new makeup man, the one who you've got makes you look like a cadaver.
