“Eighteen percent of Americans have been so “alarmed” by climate alarmists that they’d strongly support any and all policies that would reduce carbon emissions.”

###

YOUR carbon emissions, not theirs.

With condescending and hypocritical Leftists, that is as SURE a bet as God’s sun rising in the morning.

Well I sure hope these survey results mean that cap and trade is dead on arrival in Congress.

Now I hear news has leaked about Obama wanting to impose a value added tax. And the reasoning is that the deficit is so large, we need new taxes.

And the deficit grows because of porkulus and other unwise spending. Cap and trade will cost many billions. ]
\

I wish Obama would take a breather. Take the whole month of August off. Bush did that and was criticized by the liberals. But the liberals would be happy to let him have time off. And the conservatives would love for Obama to leave town and not introduce any more hare brained proposals.

Global Warming is a manufactured myth, climate change an ever present fact of life and Cap and Trade is a scheme to separate people from their wallets.

I heard Tim Ball (University of Winnipeg) today on the subject and what I heard wasn't a discourse on climatology......he was describing larceny. He went on to describe the climate of fear in the scientific community, scientists branded as right wing nuts for challenging the politically driven consensus of global warming (aka climate change) which purloins their data and publishes a hodge podge to obfuscate the public.

(Hmmm....my little diatribe ain't any better...)

It isn’t about saving the planet. Its about trillions in new taxes to fund Obama’s bolshevik revolution.

Count me among the "Dismissive."

I only glanced at the report (can you believe some think tank probably got big bucks for putting together all this analyses and pretty charts?) -- the question I would really like addressed is, even IF global warming, cooling, or climate change were happening, is it remotely possible to stop or alter it?

I'm a firm believer that we are capable of many things, but changing the climate through lifestyle choices is not one of them. One Mt. St. Helens or Krakatoa eruption, and all the measures (and $$$) will go out the window.

Just last Thursday, China insisted those “rich countries” cut emissions a whopping 40 percent by 2020 from 1990 levels while contributing at least 0.5-1.0 per cent of their annual economic worth to greenhouse gas reduction and global warming adaptation schemes of poorer countries before Beijing will even consider taking any action of its own.  To give you an idea just how inane that demand is, the awful Waxman-Markey Bill would attempt to cut US carbon emissions by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020.  And that’s not nearly enough for the United Nations. At December’s upcoming battle of Copenhagen, greenies worldwide hope to hammer out a U.N. treaty to succeed the 2012 expiring Kyoto Protocol to cut carbon emissions to 20 percent below 1990 levels by 2020.  And China refuses to budge unless the world doubles even that lofty goal.  Add the extortion money the Reds demand and it should be obvious to even the most naive that the rapidly developing (and now number one CO2 emitting) China is merely raising the bar beyond the scope of achievement and has no intention of ever mitigating its emissions.

Thanks neverdem.

Yes, “cap and trade” is already an unpopular idea. That’s why Obama has invented a new name for it. More Orwellian Duckspeak. I forget what that new name is, but no doubt we’ll be seeing a bill that employs it sometime soon, since it’s too good a chance to miss. A real twofer: More taxes, and more energy dependence. How could Obama resist that?

I sat down and looked at the numbers. The Green guys always want to lump the fifty states into America....thus controlling the situation via a national mechanism.

The thing is...when you do the per capita game with carbon...and then go individual countries versus indiviual states...then things get to be real interesting.

My state of Bama has a 11 rating...fairly comparable to Germany which has a 10 rating. The Brit’s? They have a 9.79 rating...while California has a 46 rating. In fact, when you settle upon the map of the US and compare individual states....almost thirty states are within the range of most European countries. Amazing...isn’t it.

Then we come to the top ten US states with issues. Vermont has a 50 rating. Then there is Texas, California, and New York.

For cap and trade purposes...lets play a real interesting game. Any US state within ten percent points of a European country...gets out of Cap and Trade rules. Of the top ten problem states...nine are blue states. Of the bottom ten problem states...seven are red states. Kinda curious...how things lie now.

I would strongly suggest that people think long and hard about individual states and how things get skewed at the national level. Bama has been doing its part for over two hundred years...and within the numbers of any European country. We really don’t want to get compared to New York or California.
