(LEAD) (Yonhap Interview) N. Korean nuclear test to trigger unprecedented response: Cohen

By Sam Kim

SINGAPORE, May 29 (Yonhap) -- North Korea made a "big miscalculation" by going ahead with its second nuclear test and should expect an unprecedented response from the international community, a former U.S. defense minister said Friday.

North Korea set off an underground nuclear explosion in its northeastern region on Monday despite a slew of international warnings

It appears that China is indeed pissed off enough this time, as some media have reported.

If confirmed, that would be a new development.

An even more strongly worded letter.

William Cohen comes out of the woodwork?
Curious.

If North Korea declared that it will no longer obey terms of the truce, then technically, we are still at war.

A President with a spine would bomb the sh!t out of them right now!

I know I would.

IMHO, China is using the little shrimp mad-man to test the US, and Obama specifically. I do not for a minute believe that he would take this action without the Chinese clandestinely knowing about it.

That may very well be the most honest picture in the history of photography.

If you look closely, I believe you can see classified documents protruding from Sandy's tidy-whities.

You guys better stop it or I’ll hold my breath til I pass out.

I’m getting scared.

President Obama makes the deficit spending racked up between 2000 and 2008 look like a drop in the bucket compared to his current and projected deficits.

I sure hope that he doesn’t do the same thing for American military deaths.

I have never quite understood’s China’s role and interest in this, nor the MSM’s stated analysis.

- North Korea is already collapsed, and China does not fear N. Korean refugees. The border is closed now and if necessary, China can send half a million army and police to the border immediately to stop any further escapes. They will not hesitate to do so

- China will always border N. Korea. The chance of a Korean nuke being used, eventually, in China, is as high, or higher, than the chance it will be used on the USA.

- China is creating long-term ill will among Koreans, especially in the days when Kim is gone

Diplomats will write EXTENDED letters of “grave concern” on LEGAL-SIZED paper instead of letter-sized paper!

William Cohen comes out of the woodwork? Curious.

That, sir, is an excellent observation. Wonder what's behind his sudden emergence?

I have known Sec. Cohen since he started his Washington career. (in my parents living room) He knows something or he wouldn't be speaking out! We had better listen to what he is saying.

They will use black ink now, but later will use red ink if NK would not budge.:-)

Well, it should not be that difficult to wreck the NK nuclear program from the air.

With an adult as POTUS it would be extra special if the US turned an air base in Iraq over to the Israeli's for about 48 hours while the USAF took care of NK. Two members of the axis of evil taken care of in a couple of days. What would the rest of the world do? Nothing.

I have known Sec. Cohen since he started his Washington career.

He is the one who refused to let the Military protect the Rangers in Somalia.

You should really, really listen to him.

He is trying to get back on board the Dihimmi train.
