White House comfortable with nominee's views
Thursday, May 28, 2009
The White House says President Barack Obama is "very comfortable" that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor shares his philosophy about the Constitution, including rights not specifically spelled out in the document.
Presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs said Obama did not specifically ask Sotomayor about the right to privacy. The debate over that right has come up in the context of several matters involving the court, including abortion rights.
As a candidate for president, Obama promised that he would not appoint anyone who doesn't believe in the right to privacy.
Pressed on the matter, Gibbs would only answer broadly, saying Obama was very comfortable with her interpretation of the Constitution being similar to his.

This means Sotomayor has passed the abortion litmus test; gay rights; right to assisted suicide; right of enemy combatants to habeas corpus; right of rapists to be free from he death penalty; right of the "Fairness Doctrine" ...and the list goes on. Will the Republicans in the Senate Judiciary Committee show some spine and stand tall and firm together and turn this nomination down?
Bingo. Regarding abortion: the chances that Sotomayer is not pro- abortion rights zero.
C O M F O R T A B L E say it real slow and you get!! COME for the BULL.
Boy is he right on the mark and does not know it!!
I believe this woman has the same disdain for America and its citizens as Obama does. She identifies herself as Puerto Rican first, even though she was born here.
In College Thesis, Sotomayor Appeared to Support Puerto Rican Independence
[snip]Ms. Sotomayor was born in the Bronx of Puerto Rican parents, and her pride in her roots is evident as she dedicates her paper to the people of my island for the rich history that is mine.
Ms. Sotomayors apparent support for Puerto Rican independence reflected her concern over preservation of the islands culture. She wrote: The experiences of Alaska and Hawaii since statehood with cultural destruction has been indicative of the cultural loss Puerto Rico would eventual [sic] face if statehood for the island were chosen. Under the commonwealth status, there has been a gradual deterioration of the Spanish language among the Puerto Rican populace and a growing Americanization of the island.
her membership in La Raza, alone, should disqualify her. But, then again, Robert KKK Byrd is still “serving” Dem Party.
She’ll get the job. Obama will do ANYTHING to save face over his pick.
The Reps won’t have enough votes to fillabuster, So they’d lose nothing if they tried.
I hope they dig deep into her past, and expose her so at least the rest of the country can see her for what she is, a liberal activist judge.
Presidential comparison quiz
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Tony Blair a set of inexpensive and useless (to Tony Blair’s UK video formatting) DVDs, when Tony Blair had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive?
Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in 10 weeks — so you’ll have three years and nine-and-a-half months to come up with an answer.
Last time I looked Puerto Rico was part of the US, that makes her parents US citizens as well as her, whether she was born here or not. What she is, is a leftist, and she believes she is superior to the average person. One of the biggest BS lines of the left is about her parents being "immigrants" when they are no more immigrants than someone from Oklahoma moving to Nevada would be immigrants.
The white house would be comfortable with Raul Castro on the court.
This is looking more and more like a racial minority seeking to exert raw power so as to marginalize the majority-----something one finds in failed Third World satraps.
She is a member of the racial-thought police----La Raza. They are demanding "respect and fairness." That's latino for "shut up----close your eyes, ears and mouths........or else we'll get physical."
Being Hispanic is not a criteria for seating a Supreme Court Justice. More is being made about her race than her actual judicial record.
=================================
THIS ABOUT SUMS IT UP Bush's "compassionate conservatism" turns out to have meant: (1) everybody in northern Mexico gets to immigrate free, (2) let's bump off strong conservatives in local government and education, and, (3) let's go ahead and succumb to Democratic budget blackmail.
HOW OBAMA GOT ELECTED Bush's stupidest and most condemnable act was to send Karl Rove to reassure the La Raza racists that Third World illegal aliens violating our borders that US laws would NOT be enforced to allow aliens to come here for a "better life."
Sap-happy Rove also suggested that, once here, criminals and lawbreakers would become so enamored with democracy, they would forget their corrupt ways and embrace democracy and all it stands for (famous last words).
Bush/Rove were sucking up to latinos and promising to turn the US into a Third World for their pleasure AT THE SAME TIME illegals were getting 100% mortgages, flipping them back and forth between family members at higher and higher prices, then defaulting and absconding to Mexico with huge pots of money----leaving banks (and US citizens) holding the bag.
Thanks to Bush, tens of thousands of illegals hightailed it over the border after reading Mexican newspapers ads headlining : "Free Houses in the USA."
Illegals were establishing several identities with forged documents and stolen SS nos, getting on the US gravy train---and sending billions of US dollars back to Mexico.
They are now lining up for Obama's stimulus freebies, thanks to Rove's creating an "illegals voting bloc" that elected Obama.
Rove and Bush also made a side deal with Mexico----and now the Mexican government is salivating over getting their hands on more and more US assets (begins when the US "helps" Mexico "fight the drug war".......billions of US tax dollars start flowing into the pockets of federales.)
One of the more bizarre rituals of American politics.
We all pretend a Supreme Court nominee doesn’t make policy and that we aren’t asking her to specify how she’ll vote on specific issues. But everybody knows that’s exactly what we’re doing.
Good points. Did Soto have anything to do with Pres Clinton pardoning the FALN----violent Puerto Rican terrorists who bombed US installations?
Pardoned----so that then-Senate candidate Hillary could harvest the NY latino vote.
Nice.
Can I borrow that?
I’ll give you credit for it.
You are spot-on. Unfortunately barring a major calamity (CA may be a case in point), I think we just might be seeing the end of the US of A as we know it and all with the complicit approval of the RINOs in Congress.
Why doesn’t someone ask her if she fears America losing it’s culture because of “latinas” like her enforcing their own cultures and beliefs into American society. We are suffering a gradual lose of the American culture.
Go right ahead and borrow but don’t give me credit even though I wish I had thought of it. I rec’d it thru email via my Indiana Auntie who rec’d it from someone else.
“Being Hispanic is not a criteria for seating a Supreme Court Justice.”
In today’s environment, those are true words if I never read any more.
