Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, in the GOP's weekly radio and Internet address, called the House climate bill "a classic example of unwise government." The address culminated a week of coordinated Republican attacks on the Democratic proposal which would require the first nationwide reductions in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.

Billions for research on how to put a fart back in the bottle ?
Cap and trade would be nothing but a massive tax increase ..call it the “light switch tax” as you would be taxed every time you turn on a light. While the Democrats are hell bent to pass this bill, Republicans should be shouting from the housetops what it will do starting with a 50% increase in the average American’s electric bill. I can’t imagine more moderate Democrats being willing to swallow this cap and trade kool-aid as it will kill them at the polls in 2010.
OOOOH.....
.....How strongly worded.
I bet they take the "wait and see" approach.
This is good news. There should easily be enough votes to defeat this horrible bill. Many Democrats are in energy states. The key is raising the profile enough and keeping it front and center enough to drive public opposition up.
And give those in power a podium to state how they saved the world from a threat that never existed in the first place.
All the while going home with so much money that they look like "socks" Berger leaving the National Archives.
I would be embarrassed in admitting to being a card carrying Republican anymore.
Who the F is writing their speeches....I want to know!!!
Just wait till till they see what it does to their gasoline and home heating gas bill. All that Alberta tar sand oil that is (wrongly) claimed to be "dirty" oil will be heavily "cap and trade taxed".
Doubling and tripling fuel costs will shut down whats left of our struggling oil and oil product based economy.
Nobody will really have to worry about the drastic increases on electricity and home heating; they won't have any income to pay for such luxuries. They'll be scrambling around parks looking for dried dog crap to burn for heat.
Apparently the Republican Party has no intentions of grabbing the moment and becoming a viable contender for the Congress and White House.
