Cleveland was my birthplace. While my parents were alive, and God rest their souls, I thanked them all the time for having the good sense to move to S. California when I was 5.

I watched the hockey game over the basetball game. Sounds like I made a smart decision. Orlando is clearly the better team. I could have very easily been a 4 game sweep for Orlando. It might be an interesting NBA Finals. You probably have to favor the Lakers. Probably in 6 games.

John Elway, Josh Beckett, now Dwight Howard will haunt Cleveland fans for ever.

And it gets worse...

It is virtually certain LeBron James will wear a Knicks jersey next year.

Magic. The Orlando freaking Magic?

Do they show jazz hands before they take the center jump?

Oh yes - it’s an oblique reference to Disney World and the other theme parks.

It’s still an idiotic name for a male sports team.

For those who don’t know, ESPN has a gamecast that is just behind real time.

Chinese predict Yao-Lebron pairing after investment report

By Nick Mulvenney

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese basketball fans are already gleefully predicting Yao Ming will join LeBron James at the Cleveland Cavaliers after reports a Hong Kong-based company is set to take a minority share in the NBA franchise. U.S. media reported over the weekend that New World Development Company was to take a 15 percent holding in the Cavaliers, the second-largest stake after owner Dan Gilbert.

The NBA is hugely popular in China with hundreds of millions tuning in to games involving Houston Rockets center Yao and the report has been met with great enthusiasm in Internet chat rooms.

“It’s very clear that the Cavaliers’ next step is to buy Yao Ming,” one netizen said on Sina.com. “And then to win the league championship, and then to build a Cavaliers’ dynasty!”

I think Boston is much more talented than the Lakers are and the Magic beat them and the Cavaliers.

Orlando over the Lakers (of course) in 7. It would be a sweep, but the refs will make sure the Lakers stick around for a few games.

Don't follow the NBA much unless the Lakers are doing well, I am an NFL type of guy. Know little about this LeBron character, but gather there are a lot of NBA followers that wanted some sort of matchup with Kobe.

All well and good, but the team I just saw lose to Orlando would not have a chance against the Lakers, so the one guy would just have made it an embarrassment...............

Congratulations is in order for Orlando. Not only are they in the NBA finals but, more importantly, they host Gay Days 2009. Way to go, guys!

Doug,

I usually pay attention when you post something...
but when it comes to NBA basketball I’m finding it hard to give a damn.

Just about anything is better than basketball. Including bowling, curling, or heck, even hockey?

So please, try not to damage the integrity of one of my favorite websites by posting dribble (pun intended) about the NBA!

Signed,

Sonicless in Seattle

Earlier, in the locker room, I had asked Howard to give me one or two reasons I should consider picking the Magic to defeat the Lakers.

“God” was his answer, which was met with the counterargument that the Lord probably has better things to worry about than who wins a basketball game, and besides, religion and politics are usually best kept out of sports stories.

“That’s the reason, I’m telling you,” Howard replied.
