If he means that the middle of the road is where you find dead things and animal manure. He has a point.

Yes, he’s always been a big lib. His demoralizing coverage of the Tet offensive helped convince Americans that the war was lost, despite the fact that Tet was a decisive defeat for the communist insurgency. His reporting wouldn’t have had the impact that it did if people didn’t see him as trustworthy.

Or did people see Cronkite for what he was (I don’t know - I wasn’t alive at the time)? My impression is that he was seen as some kind of pillar of truth and that people were shocked when he outed himself as a liberal partisan a few years back.
