It might have been a father of a baby that Tiller killed.

It would be interesting if the defense attorneys take that position when entering a plea of not guilty.

I am not a purist. I believe any restriction on abortion should be passed into law. However, I still believe it is morally wrong to kill a baby that was conceived by rape or incest and I would support legislation to ban those abortions as well. The only exception would be when the life of the baby and the life of the mother are both in danger (ie ectopic pregnancy). Personally, I would (and have) continued a pregnancy that was risky to my own life. The baby was not in jeopardy and my ob was able to manage my condition and all turned out well. In fact, before I chose my ob, I called to see if they performed or ever referred women for abortions. I didnt even want to have the issue come up.

I beleive in jury nullification in very, very rare but needed cases.

I don’t 100% oppose abortion.
You see, I do not view a newly fertilized egg as a person-—yet. Of course, as the fetus develops into that which clearly looks like a human, is almost, or all-but ready to survive outside the womb, then yes, I would oppose such an abortion. However, I don’t take a theological view of the situation. I take a practical view of it. I see no value/reward in destroying the next generation. Of course, there are those who say we need stem cells, and things along those lines. No thanks, not for me-—I’d rather take other avenues of research. We should protect the next generation, but, there are gray areas (in my opinion, since you asked for it)-—rape and/or incest. In cases of rape/incest, I think it is perfectly fine to immediately abort the fertilized egg/fetus. But, remember, I do not view this issue from a religious perspective.

On one had, I worry about the martyrdom of this babykiller and the setting back of the pro-live movement I've been a active part of since I was 22 years old.

On the other hand, I think of all the kids who are in gestation six, seven, eight, and nine months and are killed by this goon.

I can't shed a tear. Good riddance. I can't condone this, but I understand it.

Sadly, it won’t matter what statement they put out, they will be branded as having gun in hand from the pro-death crowd from the president down.

And in protection of yourself or another. There are very few but specific times when taking a life is warranted.

Not in this case, though I do not mourn his death, but to say the ONLY time when taking a life is justified is in a just war is wrong.

Thanks! It would be nice if some on our side would think before they emote, because some of the comments on this thread are just plain kooky.

I hate abortion with a passion and want it to end but I also realize that we need to elect a President and a congress who will nominate and confirm Supreme Court justices that will over turn Roe v Wade. And the only way we do that is by educating our friends and family members about the horrors of abortion so they will be less likely to have abortions themselves, and will vote with us for pro-life candidates for local and national office.

Murdering abortionists will only cause the pro-life movement to be marginalized as fringe radicals and will push those on the fence to side with the pro-choice, or more accurately, the pro-death side.

DARN IT!!! (wanted to use harsher language here)
My argument is flawed-—
I had never considered that rape/incest would be such a small percentage of abortions(whatever the real stats, they would be quite low).
If abortions were only allowed for such situations, then a high percentage of those women who would be inclined to get abortions would cry wolf.
What a mess that would create for society and the legal system. No thanks.
Therefore, from a practical standpoint, and of my own opinion that abortion is not, in general, a positive thing, I must now be 100% against abortion, regardless of the situation.

View my latest post, I think it is #1292 of the thread.
You may have to backtrack it to make sense of it, but you may be surprised. I have changed my stance.

If and early untimely death is good enough for those helpless babies it’s good enough for Dr Geaorge Tiller.

May my Lord have mercy on his soul.

Look what we have become.

I’m sorry, but killing abortionists will not end abortion, but will only make things harder for the pro-life cause.

Can anyone truly fathom that George Tiller has ended the lives of over 60,000 infants? I can’t wrap my mind around that at all and I’m sure no one in the pro-life movement can.

Operation Rescues response was perfect, though will be turned against them. They did not mourn the death of the man but made the point that non-violence has always been the hallmark of the pro-life movement, with very few exceptions that have exploited by the media.

My first statement on hearing of Tillers murder was I hoped he was having dinner with satan but that this was not good for the pro-life movement.

Not my most Christian comment but one that I”m sure is shared by many who do not approve of Tillers murder and would have preferred he had been taken care of by the court system.

I am VERY proud of you.

If you want to do something really REALLY enriching and uplifting, I would invite you to come to Washington, DC when the annual March for Life occurs in late January. You will never be the same.
