LU officials meet with College Democrats

Liberty University officials met with three members of the College Democrats and its staff sponsor on Wednesday to review actions taken in the controversy that has garnered national media attention in the last week. At the crux of the discussion were statements made to the press by the club’s staff sponsor — statements the administration says did not explain the situation in enough context for the media to report accurately on the action taken by LU officials to drop endorsement of the group as a Liberty University club.

At the meeting, LU officials urged the sponsor to issue a public apology based on information given to the press implying that LU had banned the Democrat Club and that the club could not meet on campus, when in fact it was given full rights to meet on campus just a few days earlier.

It is said that the truth will always come out, this just happened a little faster then I thought. As reported in several newspapers(for what I believe was for political gain) Liberty University was attacked for banning a democratic group on campus as the story went. The damage to Liberty has been done and most will never read that the real story was that they did not want Liberty University name included in the groups name. It is time we start holding the reporters accountable. There is a big difference between facts of a story and an agenda. Please when you read a story, ask where the truth is, and if the reported is embellishing it, hold them accountable. Write the paper and complain.

Not to change the subject, but Ben Stein did an EXCELLENT job of giving this year’s commencement speech at Liberty.

As a former resident of Long Island, VA and a guy whose (HOT) girlfriend attends Liberty...had you not posted the story here on a website monitored by Liberal kooks nationwide, I doubt the majority of them would’ve ever heard of it.

Sorry to disagree with you but I posted this because Our nonwonderful gov. Tim Kaine and also the next want-to-be gov Terry McAuliffe where out campaigning and condemning Liberty as part of their stir up the left campaigning. Hampton roads paper and Richmond times covered it (and of course DID NOT have the facts straight at all).
Then Lauren Wolfe Former President, College Democrats of America Board of Directors, CDAAA”” started a campaign against Liberty (To all college democrats)

I was sorry to hear how you are distorting the truth about what happened with the democratic group at Liberty University. I can only assume you are trying to make a name for yourself by telling people only 1/2 of a story. That is deceptive to say the least. If you knew your bible, you would know that the snake twisted the truth in the garden of Eden to get Eve to eat of it’s fruit. This is not how one builds credibility as it can come back on you one day.

The group can still meet at Liberty it just can not use Liberty’s name as part of the groups name. That is totally different for the story you are telling people.
If your aim is about fairness at a school, you would complain about schools that WILL NOT let pro-life groups even have a group let alone meet at a school. Your double standard is to pathetic.

So truly this has some leggs to it.....
