So all they have to do is coordinate with Kim and hit the East Coast and West Coast at the same time... will be a good time to live in fly over country — until the jet stream gets to you.

ICBM capabilities? I’d be very surprised.

?

As far as I know (and I could be wrong), Ashura-2 was their longest range missile and it only had a range of 1900 miles.

Iran did apparently put an object into orbit. So technically, they have a delivery system that could hit the US East coast, heck, anywhere really. The question is, with what? Their satellite was relatively small. Certainly smaller (weight) than any reasonable RV. As you add mass to the top end (eg. a warhead), you reduce the effective range. I believe people in the field refer to this as “total impulse” in the missile/launch system. It is a measure of the total energy in the propulsion system. For a given total impulse, as you add weight, you take away range...

There are many serious disadvantages to being isolated countries, and both Iran and North Korea are very isolated countries. Both countries are also being watched 24/7 by spy satellites, so I would be very surprised if both countries already have very decent missile capabilities (meaning missiles that can successfully hit the U.S.) along with all of the proper training to do everything correctly to the best of human abilities. It’s more dangerous to presently be “free countries” surrounding either Iran or North Korea than it is to be in the U.S. at the present time, but Obama, leftist lawyers, leftist judges, the MSM, and all leftist politicians are already helping to ruin the long-term national security of the U.S.!

Obama will speed up that cut in missile defense.

GREAT point. It is true and should not be a surprise, if they can hit space, they can hit anywhere on Earth.

It seems we are surrounded by the worse vermines on this planet. NK on one side and Iran on the other. We have a community organizer for President and reducing military spending.

We are so screwed!

I worry more about them hooking up a nuke to a missile fired from a barge off our coast (in international waters) to altitude (100 miles or so). Accuracy isn’t important, size of the bomb is - think EMP. 1 fairly powerful nuke detonated 100 miles above the NE corridor would devastate this nation like few other things could. Coordinated strikes of this type over several areas would push us back to the pre-electric age in a micro-second...and we wouldn’t even be able to feed ourselves.

The phony, non-existent PhotoShop’d Iranian missiles can nuke Mars.

The real ones don’t have a range of more than about 1500 miles. This guy’s out of his mind.

Yes, it's now a question only of accuracy and throw weight. Can they hit the Est Coast with "something." Probably. A warhead as heavy as a small nuke? Unlikely, but they are making big strides. The question is when, rather than whether.

I think Iran will be going after Israel before they come at us. If you can believe what you read on the internet, at sites such as http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iran/missile/ the Iranians already have systems capable of delivering 1 ton payloads into Israel. I'm no nuclear scientist, but if you believe sources such as http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article667042.ece the target weight for a nuclear warhead is around that same payload.

Funny how Iran professes its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes... Yet builds missile systems just capable of delivering a payload roughly equivalent to a nuclear warhead. You'd think if they were going to send merely conventional explosives, well, bigger is better, right? Odd (not) how they stopped development (payload growth) right around that magic number... But I'm sure obama is right for believing them, they wouldn't lie to us... :-/
