Posted on 06/01/2009 7:33:01 AM PDT by victim soul
Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said today that the killing of late-term abortionist George Tiller brings tremendous sorrow.
"Two years ago, I visited George Tiller's clinic in hope of telling him that babies desire mercy," said Dr. King. "I wanted to share with him the harm I experienced from abortion. My prayer was that one day he would join me in repentance. I am deeply sorry that his life was taken before that could happen."
"It's especially horrifying that Dr. Tiller was shot in church," added Dr. King. "My grandmother, Alberta King, was killed by a Christian-hating gunman as she played the organ during Sunday services. Just as the womb should be a safe haven, so should church. I condemn this murder in the strongest possible terms."
A colleague of Dr. King's in a pro-life African-American coalition, Pastor Stephen Broden, also declared, "Pro- lifers are devastated by the Tiller killing. In the great tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we pray, march, and counsel peacefully. Just as earlier civil rights workers, pro-lifers do not answer violence with violence."

Alveda King had an abortion??
King’s dream represents: Together in Christ... looks like his niece is continueing the message.
No doubt a powerful spokes person....Wish someone like FOX would have her on.
I figure it’s up to God anyway ... from my perspective, no loss whatsoever.
For some individuals, repentance means nothing when money means all. While the words of Alveda King are the words and response of a true Christian, the facade here is that Tiller had no remorse, no intentions of seeking redemption, and actually attended church.
Tiller had ample opportunities to repent. Maybe he was so close to it, the Devil sent his minion Scott Roeder to act fast before Tiller could change his mind.
Likewise, the devil loves a martyr and no doubt, to the pro-choice and abortionists, Tiller will become a ‘martyr’.
I too wish Dr. King would come out and speak publicly more often. She’s the type of person whose message would really resonate with today’s disillusioned african-american voters.
That would be like putting Hitler on a pedestal. Once the American people are apprised of the real facts about Tiller and Sebelius, Average Joe will think "good riddance."
It's our job as pro-lifers to expose Tiller's real record to all.
Maybe that will be possible in his murderer's trial...It will certainly get national coverage. Pray the some good will come out of all of this.
Agreed, but also consider this: The is a growing liberal movement (historical revisionism) which espouses that Hitler was not evil nor was he that bad of a man. As such, there will be no exposing of what Tiller actually did or had done by the liberal mainstream media.
True but I'd stay away too from clebrating his death like others I have seen on other threads. That only serves to make this man a martyr like someone said earlier. Murder is murder either way.
That diminished the lineage of MLK, didn’t it? :-(
since she has repented, she is an excellent advocate to the AA young women who constitute the majority of the mothers who see abortion as a birth control method.
You'll hear no arguments from me there.
The apathetic Average Joe on the street doesn't really care, but the liberals will try to influence him anyway, and he is easily swayed.....their man Obama was elected, after all.
Get a grip, you sound like you’re going off the deep end!
Thanks for the reality check. This man was a disgusting monster. When he would murder one of these babies he would then often have a memorial service with the parents of the dead baby to “sooth” their conscience.
I am glad he is gone, and as for feeling sorry for him having been cast into hell when he died? He was one of Hell’s leading advocates, a child of the devil, and a member in good standing in a church that was obviously oblivious to the truth.
I will save my emotions for the kid shot down in the streets who never had the opportunities that this man threw away. Would I mourn the death of Hitler, Stalin, or Mao? I say, yes Jesus died for this man, but this man after thousands of warings about his specific form of evil spit in the face of Jesus and is now roasting in a hell he would have liked to drag the entire nation into with him.
Misplaced sympathy is the undoing of many moral people. Don’t be decieved by the tugging at the heartstrings for those who crave the desire to wallow in the blood of the innocent. The scripture tells us that God HATES THE HANDS THAT SHED INNOCENT BLOOD. That is a big statement. This man specialized in murdering babies that were well past the age that they could live outside their mother.
Lemme guess newbie - after you wrote that post you then signed onto DU or DailyKos to alert your lefty friends what vile hatred is being posted over at FR right?
By the way, any pro-lifer that is devestated by this killing is a moron and sure holds Tiller in higher regard than he/she does the babies he would have murdered today.
God will not let you go into the hereafter if there is a chance for your salvation...
The person that killed Tiller handed the pro-abortion movement 10 YEARS OF PROPAGANDA to use against the pro-lifers.
Over the long run, more babies will die because of this murder than were saved by it. Many more.
Shooting people in a chruch isn’t how you win the abortion fight, that is how you LOSE it.
I can’t believe people think this helps the pro-life movement in any way, shape, or form. It doesn’t.
How can you bring God and prayer into such hatred? This kind of ranting and raving is exactly what the left-wingers live for. If you have a bible, flip to the New Testament and start reading. The rest of us should pray that you find comfort for your soul there.

What struck me as - odd - about this story is that ANY (even so called) Christian CHurch would have this Tiller dude in the building, let alone as a member in good standing.
Boggled my poor little mind, it did.
In the course of the last 16 months, I have been boggled too many times - with more in the future no doubt.
They have to revise Hitler’s history if they plan on adopting his broadly Keynesian economic policies. “Everything but Poland and the Ovens” Wiemar sort of resembles the America envisioned by the editorial pages of the New York Times.
Please spare me the handwringing. How long must we watch innocent babies be murdered? How many have to die? It is of no concern to me how liberal fascists use Tiller to propagandize. Their minds are made up. The political elite class is irredeemably controlled by abortionists. The idea that we can convince them to repent is foolish. Separation is the only answer. I pray that free Americans who value life will separate from the liberal fascists before it is too late to avoid civil war.
No wonder the Devil acted fast before his minion George could repent. He didn't want to lose such a jewel in his crown. /sarc
Sarah Palin has this right. take heed.
Your hate mail on FR is uncalled for, by the way.

How Can the Dream Survive if We Murder Our Children?
In the ongoing travesty of the debate over whether abortion and infanticide should be condoned, a voice in the wilderness continues to cry out, “what about the children?” We have been fueled by the fire of “womens rights,” so long that we have become deaf to the outcry of the real victims whose rights are being trampled upon, the babies and the mothers. Of course a woman has a right to decide what to do with her own body. Thank God for the Constitution. Yet, she also has a right to know the serious consequences and repercussions of making a decision to abort her child. Then too, what about the rights of each baby who is artificially breached before coming to term in his or her mothers womb, only to have her skull punctured, and feel, yes agonizingly “feel” the life run out of her before she takes her first breath of freedom. What about of the rights of these women who have been called to pioneer the new frontiers of the new millennium only to have their lives snuffed out before the calendar even turns?
Oh, God, what would Martin Luther King, Jr., who dreamed of having his children judged by the content of their characters do if hed lived to see the contents of thousands of childrens skulls emptied into the bottomless caverns of the abortionists pits?
It is time for America, perhaps the most blessed nation on earth to lead the world in repentance, and in restoration of life! If only we can carry the freedom of repentance to its fullest potential. If only America can repent and turn away from the sins of our nation. Abortion is at the forefront of our destruction. Partial Birth Abortion is perhaps the most heinous form of this legal genocide. Direct links connecting abortion and serious conditions such as breast and cervical cancer, emotional disorders and other serious ills must be considered! The only healing and redemption is in the blood of Jesus, blood willingly shed so that we could stand today and cry out for the blood of the unborn that is drenching the land of our children.
What terribly mixed signals we are sending to our society today? We allow and even encourage them to engage in promiscuous sex. Then when their sin conceives, we pretty much tell them, “dont kill your babies, let our abortion facilities do it for you.” We march to cure breast cancer, yet promote one of the biggest contributors. I am a mother of six living children, and I am a grandmother. I am also a post-abortive mother. In the early 1970s, I suffered one involuntary and one voluntary abortion.
My involuntary abortion was performed just prior to Roe v. Wade by my private physician without my consent. I had gone to the doctor to ask why my cycle had not resumed after the birth of my son. I did not ask for and did not want an abortion. The doctor said, You dont need to be pregnant, lets see. He proceeded to perform a painful examination which resulted in a gush of blood and tissue emanating from my womb. He explained that he had performed a local D and C.
Soon after the Roe v. Wade decision, I became pregnant again. There was adverse pressure and threat of violence from the babys father. The ease and convenience provided through Roe v. Wade made it too easy for me to make the fateful and fatal decision to abort our child.
I went to a doctor and was advised that the procedure would hurt no more than having a tooth removed. The next day, I was admitted to the hospital, and our baby was aborted. My medical insurance paid for the procedure. As soon as I woke up, I knew that something was very wrong. I felt very ill, and very empty. I tried to talk to the doctor and nurses about it. They assured me that it will all go away in a few days. You will be fine. They lied.
Over the next few years, I experienced medical problems. I had trouble bonding with my son, and his five siblings who were born after the abortions. I began to suffer from eating disorders, depression, nightmares, sexual dysfunctions and a host of other issues related to the abortion that I chose to have. I felt angry about both abortions, and very guilty about the abortion I chose to have. The guilt made me very ill.
My children have all suffered from knowing that they have a brother or sister that their mother chose to abort. Often they ask if I ever thought about aborting them and have said, You killed our baby. This is very painful for all of us. Also, my mother and grandparents were very sad to know about the loss of the baby. The aborted childs father also regrets the abortion. If it had not been for Roe v. Wade, I would never have had that abortion, only Jesus can.
My birthday is January 22, and each year, this day is marred by the fact that it is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and the anniversary of death for millions of babies. I and my deceased children are victims of abortion, and subsequently the Roe v. Wade decision has adversely affected the lives of my entire family. I pray often for deliverance from the pain caused by my decision to abort my baby. I suffered the threat of cervical and breast cancer, and experienced the pain of empty arms after the baby was gone. And truly, for me, and countless abortive mothers, nothing on earth can fully restore what has been lost, only Jesus can.
My grandfather, Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., once said, No one is going to kill a child of mine. Tragically, two of his grandchildren had already been aborted when he saved the life of his next great-grandson with this statement. His son, King once said, The Negro cannot win as long as he is willing to sacrifice the lives of his children for comfort and safety. How can the Dream survive if we murder the children? Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate.
I join the voices of thousands across America, who are SILENT NO MORE. We can no longer sit idly by and allow this horrible spirit of murder to cut down, yes cut out and cut away our unborn, and destroy the lives of our mothers. I am very grateful to God for the Spirit of Repentance that is sweeping our land. In Repentance there is healing. In the name of Jesus, we must humble ourselves and pray, and turn from our wicked ways, then God will hear from Heaven and Heal Our Land.
I can only beseech the powers that be to hearken to the voice of the Lord and remember that human life is sacred. By taking the lives of our young, and wounding the wombs and lives of their mothers, we are flying in the face of God. We cannot play God. If we continue down this path of destruction, we will be met at the gates by our own doom. This is the day to choose life. We must live and allow our babies to live. We must end the pain of post-abortion trauma. If the Dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is to live, our babies must live. Our mothers must choose life. If we refuse to answer the cry of mercy from the unborn, and ignore the suffering of the mothers, then we are signing our own death warrants.
I too, like Martin Luther King, Jr., have a dream. I have a dream that the men and women, the boys and girls of America will come to our senses, and humble ourselves before God Almighty and pray for mercy, and receive His healing grace. I pray that this is the day, the hour of our deliverance. May God have mercy on us all.
I'm hardly devastated, in my opinion, he reaped what he sowed. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
Liberals think karma happens to everybody but them though.
I wonder if zerO ever thought of this:
“Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate.”
for some reason, I suspect theOne is conflicted.....his mother did not have the option of aborting him......I wonder if he wished she had? he is so determined that even his own unborn grandchild should be able to be aborted.....it’s so odd.
She is right on target with her comments.
The good news is that a recent poll says that there is a new majority of Americans who now say they are pro-life. This recent murder, bad as it is, WILL NOT CHANGE THINGS.
Right The man was in his 60’s. He had decades to repent and did not...his problem not ours..
I can only agree with you. I have shed no tears over this man.
Agree with you on all counts...I don’t understand all the hand-wringing on the part of some pro-lifer...like they are afraid of what their enemy might say about them..
The article did say he was gunned down outside of a Church where he served as an Usher though. He had plenty of opportunity to change his mind and repent, anytime.
Whether God or the Devil sent his killer to him, or as the Buddhists say, his bad karma finally came upon him, is neither here nor there now. He's dead to this world, and he can't abort another baby again.
Where he is now is anybody's guess. My guess is Hell where all unrepentant murderers go.
