Recruiter Shooting Suspect Under FBI Investigation (Traveled to Yemen on Somali Passport)
ABC News ^ | Monday, June 1, 2009 | Richard Esposito, Pierre Thomas and Jack Date

The suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one soldier and the critical injury of another at a Little Rock, Ark., Army recruiting booth today was under investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force since his return from Yemen, ABC News has learned.

The investigation was in its preliminary stages, authorities said, and was based on the suspect's travel to Yemen and his arrest there for using a Somali passport.

The suspect, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, had changed his name from Carlos Leon Bledsoe after converting to the Muslim faith.

Law enforcement sources said he offered no resistance when Little Rock police arrested him today.

It was not known what path Muhammad, a U.S. citizen who is a recent convert to Islam, had followed to radicalization.

"At this point it appears that he specifically targeted military personnel, but there doesn't appear to be a wider conspiracy or, at this point in time, any indication that he's a part of a larger group or a conspiracy to go further," Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas said.

But, Muhammad's travels overseas have sparked a major international investigation. Officials say it is too early to know for certain if he indeed acted alone.

According to sources, the suspect advised them that he was going to kill as many Army personnel as possible. At the time of the shooting, the subject had approximately 200 rounds of ammunition available, police said.

According to a police report, Muhammad told police he saw two uniformed U.S. soldiers in front of the recruiting office before he shot and killed Pvt. William Long, 23, and wounded Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, while they were taking a break outside the U.S. Army recruiting station where they both worked.

"Ezeagwula" is a common Nigerian name....I don't know the ethnicity of William Long, but if African-American, I have to wonder if they were targeted not only because of their service but because they were both black and in the US military (and thus the perp, in his twisted mind, considered them traitors).

I just checked the White house briefing page....15 1/2 hours after the shooting, ----no comment.

1.) Obama not saying a WORD about the murder of this soldier who deserves our utmost respect, but yet righteously condemning (IMO) the murder of Tiller within HOURS of the event, is yet another slap to the face of of all our veterans, active military, national guard members, and all of their loved ones and family.

2.) I'm not surprised, and frankly, by this point there shouldn't be a person in our world (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Conservative, Liberal, libertarian, Constitutionalists, scholars, activists etc...) - unless they've fallen for his “hopenosis”, or are just lying if they say they are.

3.) Feel free to consider this a theory, but it is well within the realm of possibilities that Obama’s desire to transfer hardened Islamic Radicals in our prisons has nothing to do with giving these people “human rights” or some such nonsense, but rather sees it as a golden opportunity to forward the goals of Radical Islamic Jihad, and the take-down of our country from the inside.

4.)I truly feel the time is coming where these instances will become more commonplace, and that members of our armed forces will be needing to make some very tough decisions.

God bless all of our brave soldiers, civilian support staffs, and their families. May God bless you and protect you. May the Lord bless, especially, all people in command within our military with knowledge, truth, understanding, and clear moral decisions that are easy to make may the time come... And may the Lord turn Obama’s hardened heart, and break through his radical ideology whether religious, or political to realize what he is doing before it's too late.

Current Name: Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad

Previous Name: Carlos Leon Bledsoe

http://jarretbrachman.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/02recruiters_450a.jpg

Age: 24

Recent Foreign Travel: Yemen
(He was arrested there for using a Somali passport, which triggered an FBI/JTTF investigation)

Converted to Islam: As a teenager

Stated motivation for violence: Upset with US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

But the car was loaded with a small arsenal. Officers who searched the car found more than 100 rounds of ammunition, an SKS assault rifle, two pistols, and two military books.

The ammunition was loaded in magazines which were found in a vest, police sources say.

Twin City Tours, a Little Rock travel company, was listed as Muhammad’s employer on an arrest report.

Muhammad’s father, Melvin Bledsoe, would not comment when reached by ABC News

******

The two privates, who were both from Arkansas, were in Little Rock as part of a recruiting program that typically uses soldiers recently out of basic training to promote the Army in their home regions, Army officials said.

“They were serving their country,” said Lt. Col. Thomas F. Artis, commander of the Oklahoma City recruiting battalion, which includes Arkansas. “They were just standing outside, just taking a five-minute break, just minding their own business — and this happens.”

The dead soldier was identified as Pvt. William A. Long, 23, of Conway, about 30 miles north of Little Rock. The other victim, Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, was in stable condition at Baptist Medical Center, Chief Stuart Thomas of the Little Rock Police Department said.

In a lengthy interview with the police, Mr. Muhammad said he was angry about the killing of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, Chief Thomas said. Previously known as Carlos Bledsoe, Mr. Muhammad told investigators that he had converted to Islam as a teenager, Chief Thomas said.

Chief Thomas said investigators believe that Mr. Muhammad acted alone. He seemed to be familiar with the Army recruiting office because it was not far from his home, the chief said, but might have been on the prowl for anyone in uniform.

“I would say he was looking for any and all targets of opportunity that happened to be military,” the chief said in a telephone interview. “That may have well been the first place he found.”

based on the suspect's travel to Yemen and his arrest there for using a Somali passport.

Why on Earth was he not detained upon his return to the U.S.???

Was Jamie Gorelick re-hired to the Obama DoJ?

The FBI had him under investigation and he should have been a known purchaser of a assault type rifle.

So who coached, encouraged, supplied, and provided logistics?

Lots of coaches and encouragement, but how much logistics does it take to buy or steal a truck/SUV, an SKS and 200 rounds of ammunition? I have more than that in my garge and gun cabinet. A lot more in fact. It's a little harder when one is a convicted felon under investigation by the FBI, but still not all that difficult.

I have come to the inescapable conclusion, based on his actions, that BHO's operative principle in all of his decisions is to, first and foremost- cause maximum chaos, as per Alinsky. Example- he never was going to release the "cruelty" photos, he just announced that he was, just to cause chaos.....watch him in the future and tell me that I'm wrong!

If both his parents are Nigerian, he's probably blacker than black. I had a recreational sports class in college with a Nigerian guy. He was obsidian. And a heck of a nice guy too. Good at soccer, not so good at basketball or flag football.

Yeah but, we couldn't wire tap him to avoid this conclusion. BHO..........what a country.
