A former Guantanamo terrorism detainee who walked away a free man in 2005 will shoot his way out of the U.S. prison in a new Xbox 360 video game based on the camp.
Moazzam Begg, who spent nearly two years in the U.S. detention camp without charges, will play himself in the game, which could rake in £3 million ($5 million).
Rendition: Guantanamo lets players control a detainee trying to shoot his way out, meaning the game's creators needed to know the layout of the prison. Begg has been consulting on the project, under development for more than a year and already drawing fierce criticim.

"But no U.S. or British soldiers get killed in it. The only ones being killed are mercenaries.
This HAS to be satire.
No...Rush is on this now...
Go to Rush’s website www.rushlimbaugh.com and see for yourself...
I find this completely ironic and hypocritical!
Absolutely it’s in bad taste and cast a very bad light on the situtation.
This game company has every right to make this game. It’s up to the customer to buy it or not. What I find hillarious was this “consultant” was found on the field of battle fighting American/coalition forces. He was fighting because he hates Western idealogy and wants to impose Islamofacist lifestyles on people. Evidently all of his ideals and beliefs gets tossed aside when someone throws a bag of money at him to be a “consultant” for a video game. This is hypocritical on so many levels. Talk about being a sell out!
he said he wanted to keep it realistic?? a game about shooting your way out of Gitmo??
This just goes to show how despicable humankind can be...
This is why I own a Playstation 3 instead of an Xbox. Xbox’s suck anyway.
Hmmm.....looks like I’m going to have to lose my Xbox. Maybe they should think about how much damage one silly little game company can cause them.
Every time I think I’ve seen everything, some moron comes up with a new idea.
How about a Xbox game where a Scottish software company faces a sharp decline in sales following an outraged public’s reaction to a poorly thought out product release. It would be one of those role playing games, where the characters get embarassed and later unemployed.
Agreed, I can only imagine what that terrorist d-bag has lied about when describing his stint there.
Just more crap on a pile of bullsh*t with this situation. All you can do is not buy it and let that company waste millions of dollars in development.
The ending is where the Producer gets fired from the board of investors.
So much for the Son of Sam laws. How about a commercial boycott of the stores that stock it?
I have no problem with games letting you play bad guys. I like to play both the terrorist, robber or whatever on SWAT just as much as the good guys....
But, this is wrong.
A former detainee plays himself, and you CAN’T choose to be the good guy. That’s wrong.
Like the Blackwater contractors who were murdered, butchered, set afire, and then lynched on a bridge and jeered by Islamic supremacists?
A former detainee is profiting from his evil. Hitler’s men never saw a dime from Castle Wolfenstein.
Exactly, which is why I am against this...
If he wasn’t involved, and you could play both sides....fine with me.
But he is in the game himself, which is just not right.
Can you lock it up in the water boarding action sequence?
I will definitely be warning my buddy (a manager at Gamestop) to inform corporate that the company will lose my loyalty (and the considerable amount of money I spend there) if they choose to shelve this title. I will also make it clear that I will dissuade everyone I know from purchasing anything further from Gamestop in the future. I am sure I will not be the only one who takes this sort of action...at least I HOPE not...
This game will never see the light of day on the counsole, much less the x-box.
Anyone can develop a game and say they’re making it for a particular counsole. The counsole makers don’t actually make a decision until the game is complete and submitted to them in final form.
Now I’ve seen a trailer for this game and its crap, the graphics are 5-6 years behind everyone else, the story is stupid, and its not like Microsoft is hurting for shooters. There is no release date, Microsoft doesn’t need this game and it doesn’t need the bad press.
So there’s no point in protesting Microsoft or game retailers. Be pissed at T-Enterprise though.
