Have fun, be glad you’re not Jeff Gordon

Jeff Gordon Pulls Out of Prelude Race
Wednesday, June 3, 2009
For precautionary reasons, four-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon pulled out of Wednesday night’s “Prelude to the Dream” charity dirt track race at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Gordon, who has been dealing with back problems and sought treatment for the pain in mid-May, elected to skip the event to make sure he would be in good physical condition for this weekend’s Cup race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.

Gordon was involved in a hard wreck last weekend during his qualifying run at Dover, Del., and spent much of the day Tuesday testing at Road Atlanta, a physically demanding road course north of Atlanta.

“As a precaution, I have decided not to race at Eldora on Wednesday night,” Gordon said in a statement released Wednesday. “Due to my recent back procedure and a road course test on Tuesday, I believe the best course of action for me is to bypass the Prelude to The Dream so that I can be in the best physical shape possible for the No. 24 DuPont team at Pocono.

“I wish Tony (Stewart) the best with the event and I can’t wait to get back to Eldora in the very near future.”

Fellow Cup series driver Marcos Ambrose is scheduled to replace Gordon in the lineup for Wednesday night’s race, according to Eldora officials, where the event is taking place.

LOL.. and Ouch!

I feel for Jeff, my back is kind of sore too, trying to get ready to travel and then lugging the bags around, ouch here now too. I plan to spend some time in the jacuzzi the next couple days loosening it up.

This for the thread NormsRevenge.

Take it easy. Relax. The spa should be good therapy at least it is for me as I’m minus an L-5 S-1 disc from surgery. Hope your have some great R & R.

Anyone need rain? We are gettting hammered, again, in Bend w/lightning and rain. Very unusual for this time of the year. It’s the fourth day in a row of this stuff and I’m blaming Tubebender for allowing that low off HIS coast to spin the storms up here.

Thanks for the words, my aches are minor compared to what you have endured. I should be OK in a few days and as long as I watch what I lift, the suitcases bit me this time..

re: rain, we’re headed thru there tonight and tomorrow, pretty smooth so far. I’m gonna hang it up and get some rest and then hit the spa and sauna tomorrow.

I’m gonna have to swear off dancing, oh well.

Hi folks! I’m in Atlanta this week and don’t know if I’ll be home in time to watch the race. I may have to read the thread for the race recap!

Here’s your reminder to change your drivers before you hit the pillow!

I can’t begin to tell you how much morally superior I feel to you for “earning” my 232 points by changing my drivers (several times) last week to your “whadda mean it’s to late to change drivers” 338 points.

I hope you feel chastised and see the error of your ways....

Enough rain, already! “Balloons Over Bend” (Hot air balloons) is this weekend and I hopeful for a dry take-off!

I deserved that lashing for what I did to your self confidence but at the same time it is good for your well being to get you butt kicked by mere amateur. Be forewarned that I only changed one driver this week...

Breaking news . . .

NASCAR adopts double-file restarts in Cup Series races

Shootout format to begin in Sunday's race at Pocono

By Official Release
June 4, 2009
05:27 PM EDT

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR on Thursday announced a change to its race format with the addition of "Double-File Restarts -- Shootout Style" throughout each race. Beginning with this weekend at Pocono Raceway, the first- and second-place drivers will line up side-by-side as the green flag flies for each restart.

"We've heard the fans loud and clear: 'double-file restarts -- shootout style' are coming to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series," said NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France. "This addition to the race format is good for competition and good for the fans."

"I'm excited about it," said two-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart. "The good thing is that when they drop the green, you're going to be racing with the guys you're racing for position instead of trying to clear lapped cars.

"Since NASCAR has adapted the 'free pass,' I think that's something that now justifies being able to put those lapped cars to the back and let them race with each other, and let the guys who are racing on the lead lap do the same. I'm behind NASCAR 100 percent on this."

Continued . . .

Palaeeeesss! I’m the amateur, 4 years young plus my wife only knows three CC by driver!

On a more serious note we escaped a major lightning, hail, rain storm early this afternoon w/minor damage. Worst storm I’ve seen in over 40 years. Had lightning hit the house & four other near misses. My son was closest to the hit and had a charge go up his arm which stayed numb for a a while. (He was sooo cool & calm...this Christian uttered a very bad word) My mother-in-law next door saw the strike, First time I’ve seen penny size hail fall for for 3/4 of a hour continuously. Local story here: (take a look at the piles of hail)

Holey Smokes hdxe, that must have been wild! I'll have to check on my wife's niece and family in LaPine Ore as to how they fared. It rumbled through the mountains east of Eureka as reported HERE but left us dry for the most part. The Ore/ Cal state line area got a lot of rain as I followed it on Doppler Radar for 4 days...
