Nearly four weeks after President Obama met with health-industry officials touting a "watershed" cost-cutting agreement, the goal of slowing the sharp rise in medical-care spending is elusive as ever.
Appearing with executives of six industry groups on May 11, Obama announced what he called a "historic" and "unprecedented commitment" by the medical-care industry to "cut the rate of growth of national healthcare spending by 1.5 percentage points each year" that would yield $2 trillion in savings over 10 years.
The story got front-page play and nightly news coverage across the country. However, after American Hospital Association president Richard Umbdenstock returned to his office, he was besieged by calls from AHA members opposing such large cuts in spending. Days later, during a conference call with 230 members, he told them that the 1.5-percent-a-year savings touted by Obama was a gross exaggeration.

Why of course they don’t, and never will. But that doesn’t stop him from pulling the 100% pure unicorn wool over everybody’s eyes.
The point is to make healthcare unavailable to the individual. You HAVE to go through a gov’t agent (ie, community organizer) to get healthcare. They want to control you, and if you don’t show proper “deference” to the CO, you don’t get healthcare.
Are we having a “No Sh*t” moment here?
Zero times 2 trillion equals Zero
What on Earth is the matter with people? Do they really think Obama is going to perform magic? Have too many people been brainwashed to just hate the “evil rich?” Or are there too many people who know they will get something for nothing, on the backs of taxpayers.
It seems that the worse Obama makes the economy, the more he’s allowed to say MORE government is needed to fix what he has worsened.
“But what’s so bad about this plan? At least he’s trying something!” people have said to me. Let them see 100 million Americans displaced from existing plans. that will all be blamed on the corporations, too, don’t you know.
When will the nightmare end?
The people who voted for Obama deserve everything they’re going to get. The rest of us don’t.
Indeed, I could care less if the numbers add up or not.
Why is it that the entire premise is never debunked?
This debate should not be about numbers, it's should be about not socializing health care.
Despite the title, the whole point of this article is the last two paragraphs
“Obama hoped to bankroll his plan with his cap-and-trade energy taxes and placing limits on mortgage interest and charitable deductions, but both of those proposals are dead. A value-added tax, a national-sales-tax idea, is going nowhere, either.
Between the failure to find specific, measurable savings and attainable tax revenues, prospects for Obama’s healthcare plan are looking kind of shaky right now.”
If you thought MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY ARE BANKRUPTING THE NATION, JUST WAIT UNTIL OBUMMER PASSES HIS HEALTH CARE PLAN WHICH WILL COST AT LEAST TEN TO TWENTY TIMES MORE THAN ORIGINALLY BUDGETED.
WHEN HAS THE GOVERNMENT SHOWN THEY CAN RUN ANYTHING AND MAKE A PROFIT WHETHER IT BE THE POST OFFICE, AMTRAK, GENERAL MOTORS, CHRYSLER, FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC OR ANY OTHER “TEMPORARY” GOVERNMENT PROGRAM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SOLD A BILL OF GOODS ABOUT.
WATCH AS THE FEDERAL BUDGET NEVER GOES BELOW TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS!
WATCH AS ALL AMERICANS (NOT JUST THE RICH) WIND UP PAYING THROUGH THE NOSE IN TAXES FOR ALL OF THIS INSANE GOVERNMENT SPENDING.
The figures were never meant to add up. This is about going directly to rationing access to medical professionals.
It is incumbent upon EVERYBODY to make themselves familiar with the care and operation of the human body, so there shall be fewer reasons to come to the medical professionals, or make use of the vast pharmaceutical wealth that now exists, but will be rationed to the least amount possible, often to levels below that considered to be theraputic.
And don’t kid yourself, there will be a two-tier medical services delivery system in this country, one for the elite, and one for the poor miserable shlubs.
It appears that the long-term economic plan for the U. S. is that we can all make a good living doing each others laundry. Perhaps the health care plan can be financed by levying a tax on the laundry fees. This idea is a good as any that have been proposed to date.
And this is surprising? For a fool that probably still thinks we have 57 states.
There will be a very rude awakening eventually for many people, when all of their hopes, dreams, and assumptions will have exhausted themselves into nothingness.
They’ll have a great emptiness, and look for something fresh, and conservatism will be there to provide that freshness, once again.
It happened before 30 years ago with Reagan.
Had you given 0bama’s numbers to the average 3rd grader, you would have been given the opinion that the numbers don’t add up.
So why are 0bama’s economic plans, and this one in particular, getting any traction at all? IMO, it’s because a person is smart, but people are stupid.
does not seem to deter people in California. Whenever they hold a public meeting and show black-and-white figures about how there is not one more cent left in the coffers, they don red t-shirts, blow whistles, bang drums, stamp their feet and demand whatever it is as their “right”.
An interesting point from California. The state spends $14,000.00 a year on health insurance per prisoner. My calculater doesn’t go this big but I’m wondering what $14,000 time 330 million people comes to.
Here is Obummer’s financial report. I hope you find it clear.
Huh! Why a four year old child could understand this report. (whispering to aide) Run out and get me a four year old child...I can’t make heads or tails out of it.

It’s no fair that some people get more time on Earth than others. To level the playing field, everyone will get the same amount of health care. And anyone that makes it to age 70, on their birthday, shall be shot.
TORT REFORM!!!!
NOBODY is discussing this 10% - 15% impact on health care costs!!
Why is everybody afraid of the lawyer lobby?????
Yes, I remember! this time I’m not as sure there will be a country still here in time to save it, if this goes on much longer.
I hope I’m being too pessimistic, and will be proven wrong.
