P-M, could you loan Humble, the Severetus Flame-Proof Suit?

Wow I can't believe these are still on the internet:

The Hugo Grotius® label Arminian Asbestos Undergarments are made from the finest northern European asbestos and are intended to protect the wearer from the torches of their Calvinistic antagonists and to provide maximum comfort when escaping persecution by the Calvinst swarms while locked inside old book boxes.

If only Mr. Servetus had worn them, the Arminians would have lost one of their most potent weapons of mass argumentation.

Now that was a flame war. There hasn’t been anything to compare before or since.

Except maybe Calvinist swarms. They are dangerous.

I miss those days. Heck, lately I've been finding myself being pinged on the same list as the swarm. :-0

Of course I shall remain listless, but the truce has lasted so long I don't remember if I was an Arminian or a Calvinist in those debates.

I've been accused of being a Calvinist. I think wagglebee may have accused me of that on one or two occasions.

Would you care to see a whole swarm of them descend upon this thread? I haven't witnessed a swarm of Calvinists in a long time. But I think it could be arranged. :-)

If only I knew someone who had a list.

I know we don’t keep lists of ourselves but did anybody keep a body count of all the fallen (banned) in the great flame war?

Maybe one of our Neener Fridays should be a memorial service for those who gave their virtual lives in defense of the defenseless. We could go back in our archives and dig up some of the “golden oldies” posts and maybe petition once again the powers that be to reinstate some of the fallen or permit them to return for a day. Kind like resurrecting the dead like Samuel. We would need a conjurer; has to be a lady; know any one?

IIRC you were an Arminian when you were debating Calvinists and a Calvinist when you were debating Arminians.

And a lawyer all the time.

I stopped worrying about you, Marlowe, after you posted the Institutes. They are solid enough to persuade the persuaders. 8~)

You BOTH can make the list if you simply agree that salvation is monergistic and not synergistic ("Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.")

That and a Calvinist verse by a favorite reformed saint sent to nobdysfool will get your name...on...the...list.

You know you want it. So close...

Were there *any* German citizens whose lives were not forfeit at the whim of the SS? Weren’t their lives cheapened by the euthanasia, the polgroms and the camps?

Which of them could say that they enjoyed liberty and the right not to be killed from 1933 until 1945, if they hid Jews or, as Bonhoeffer did, plotted to overthrow or kill Hitler?

I always believed salvation was monergistic. What we argued over was whether faith, being a gift, was an act of human volition.

You make a good point. Scott Roeder is no hero. He’s anti-abortion, but he’s not pro-life, as no person who’s pro-life would shoot an unarmed man in a house of worship. Also, this murder does not do benefit the pro-life cause in any way.

You're quoting Whitefield?!?

Be still my heart.

As for human volition, I was reading Jeremiah the other day...

"The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words." -- Jeremiah 18:1-2

We're all deaf unless He "causes us to hear."

Yes, it does. It forces us to decide whether we think abortion really is murder.

If it is murder, then Tiller was a murderer who murdered 60,000 souls.

Are you just mouthing words, or do you REALLY think that abortion is murder?

Someone else will fill the gap, and in the meantime, Tiller the Killer has become a martyr. Don’t be surprised if Lifetime Television films a bio. This happens just as public opinion had turned in the pro-life movement’s corner.

As a general rule as a thread progresses, the ping lists tend to grow. I have had a number of disagreements with wagglebee on this thread and others. He did not ping his "posse", he just pinged a bunch of us who had responded to his posts, argued with him, agreed with him or whatever.

Indeed, I had already been pinged by metmom to the post by humblegunner.

And my reply to her was "Jeepers" which roughly means I never would have expected that from him.

I very much appreciate the follow-up pings in the hopes that he will extend and clarify the earlier remarks as all of you shed light on why that initial post was so disturbing.

I Don't think so. I suspect that anyone who has seen his handiwork will be glad that he is dead. Most people who consider themselves "pro-choice" are repelled by the likes of Tiller. Roeder not only killed him, but brought light to his abominiations.

I will pray that Roeder is acquitted. He has already saved more lives than he took, and it's only Thursday.

You didn’t answer the question.

Do YOU think abortion is murder?

Let us say that there is a murderer (person A) who operates only between midnight and 4 am when everyone is asleep. Let’s say that the government creates a law that says that isn’t murder because they were asleep anyway, and now they continue to be in sleep.

At the time of their deaths they were “sleepers.” They’re still “sleepers.”

So the murderer continues killing from midnight to 4 am. Lots of liberals are happy with it, because it rids us of the surplus population.

Person B comes along and offs the murderer, but he gets charged with murder, because his act wasn’t between midnight and 4am, and the murderer was awake and not asleep.

Is person B a murderer? Is person A a murderer...after all, the law says he isn’t?

Is it just possible....vaguely possible...that the LAW is wrong?

Do you believe that if he had not been killed on Sunday, that Tiller was going to eat breakfast, read the paper and go to work and murder an innocent child or two on Monday morning?

I do.

That is why I find it hard to condemn Roeder. Roeder obviously believes he killed a cold blooded serial child murderer. Do you believe that? Really?
