President Obama has declared June as national homosexuality and transgender month. Is this change we've been looking for? Sex change?
30 years ago, the Left lobbied doctors to take homosexuality out of the diagnostic manual as a mental illness.
Today, Obama lobbies to take trannies out of the category of mental illness...from the White House with a press release/proclamation.

I wouldn’t call transgendereds mentally ill. There have always been tom boys and dandies. But transexuals, the ones who won’t feel whole unless they get surgery, yeah. There’s something wrong with them. Do we humor people who think their limbs are possessed and want them amputated? No.
This country isn’t going to hell. We’re already there.

If a person can be born with genitalia which can’t even be distinguished as male or female, or has a penis and female ovaries, it’s pretty obvious that things can get mixed up in utero. Don’t you think that it’s possible for the “plumbing” to look normal, but for a person to still have other manifestations - like transexual issues. Or do we believe that if you can’t “see it,” it doesn’t exist?
In the last couple of years I’ve really come to believe that some of this is not just a mental illness, abuse, problems with dad or mom, or whatever you want to blame it on.

True, that is an assumption I make. Some of them may be mentally ill, but I don’t take identifying more with the opposite sex as evidence of illness in itself.

If you’re born with ambiguous genetalia, your best bet is to pick one sex and go with it. And in that case, I wouldn’t say desiring surgery is evidence of mental illness, since there is an actual problem to be solved. Unlike in the case of people who just don’t like their perfectly normal equipment. Hermaphrodites are special cases.

Of course it’s possible to have “other manifestations” with normal plumbing. That’s what we’re talking about. That’s what these people have, hormonal and psychological issues. There are all sorts of therapies to cover such problems.
The question is whether we consider cutting people up to satisfy their desire to simulate another gender a valid solution. And furthermore whether the people who have convinced themselves that they won’t be happy unless they have physically altered themselves are perfectly sane.

I want a month! How about September being white Christian homemaker month? Think they will proclaim that one?

In my opinion, you fall into the trap of thinking, well, if there’s some sort of physical manifestation, it isn’t all about physchology, and therefore we can’t write them off as mentally ill. Except there are plenty of mental illnesses which have adjoining physical aspects.
Consider alchoholism. No doubt addicts are physically different than people not predisposed to addiction. Yet we still call addiction a mental illness. Why? Because it comes down to how you deal with it. There’s a spectrum of normal to abnormal behavior when it comes to substance abuse, and if you fall within a certain range, and you are unable to independently control your life, you have a mental disease. That’s the test: how much alchohol impacts your life. The solution? Physical detox, surely. But more importantly, talk therapy.
Back to transexuals. There are probably plenty of people who live relatively normal lives with a little bit of man or woman in them. Just like for addicts, there’s a spectrum. Never mind hermaphrodites, since as I’ve mentioned, they are special cases. Manly-men and girly-girls have their places. Between them are a range of people who have more or less testosterone or estrogen then others, more or less personality traits that estrange them from people of their own genders.
The ones who feel they can’t go on living as a whatever they’re supposed to be stand outside the normal range. That probably doesn’t rise to the level of mental illness, since they could go on living as mostly the other sex without seriously disrupting their lives. Then there are the ones who feel they can’t go on without surgery, who hold surgery up as their only solution. Those are the ones who let their physical differences disrupt their lives, much like alchoholics.
And what happens when they go ask for surgery? Doctors immediately throw them into talk therapy. Because if they are going to be able to function after the surgery, they’re going to need professional help. Because they have mental problems, and no one’s mental problems can ever be solved by surgery alone. Same thing with people who have body dismorphia; they can have as a thousand boob jobs and still not be happy.
Here’s the sticking point: trannies’ physical problems don’t call for surgery all on their own, like cancer, for instance. The physical problems lead to phsychological discomfort, which leads to surgery. That’s the way it is. And I say that’s ample ground to assert they are mentally ill.
Nobody will be forced to become homosexual until Phase Three.

I guess its like the Black History Month only with Sodomites. Where are the parades/ the speeches and all the gay movies on TV? Like La Cage o Fuols (Sp?) or Brokeback Mt. or what ever gay films they have. Are Blacks just like Gay people in their quest for rights?
