For the sake of the passengers, I hope the crash was preceeded by quick decompression, which would cause them to lose consciousness and that may explain why the pilots were not able to give out any SOS signals. Similar to the Learjet incidence a few years back

"OTHO, a small explosion, or other event (ie. severe weather conditions) could have caused a structural failure. "

There was a flight a year or two ago in the SE ASIA/Australia area that had an oxygen canister that exploded, blowing a fairly good sized hole in the exterior of the fuselage and I think even raised the passenger compartment floor a little.

A small explosion, in the right or lucky place could bring down the plane. Many were surprised that the one I mentioned didn't come completely apart. I wish I could remember the airline, but it escapes.

It seems that not only are they ruling out terrorism quickly, they also seem to be ruling out any kind of explosion, even an accidental one. Strange.

"When you are hit by windsheer in a thunderhead you wouldn’t have time to even press the mic button."

Do you think the plane was torn apart almost immediately, or do you think windsheer or some other kind of straight-line wind caused the plane to plummet uncontrollably for a period of time? I'm just wondering how "aware" the passengers were about their fate.

1) way too early to tell the cause

2) how do you know he wasn’t praising Allah for this incident instead of making a claim that Islamofacists are responsible? There is nothing in his post which can point to one position over the other.

I suspect the pilot tried to pull up and the controls were unresponsive.

If they lost control...a steep dive under power could cause a structural failure, on a calm day, the structure isn’t built to sustain the speed the plane ‘could’ reach -as the wings will come off.

There’s a reason Airbus is called Scarebus

Al Quida did take credit for 9/11. Even KSM confessed to it. Obama is seen bragging about what is going to happening in a film that was recorded afterwards. And, secondly, if this were a bomb-and I’m not saying-that it is—someone would be taking credit for it.

In a thunderstorm it's wind sheer.

There can be opposing winds(up and down) at well over 200mph.

Any aircraft ever made would be instantly torn apart in that instance.

They were at I believe FL34 which would indicate a very large thunderstorm.

My nephew flew F-4s in the Navy and he said that they had to skirt them by 10 miles.

I don't know what the regs are for France but under FAA rules if his weather radar was non functional it was illegal to even take off for the flight.

Under the reported weather no matter what the regs were he was a fool to refuse to make the flight, it was equivalent to suicide.

This is what my husband also said. Most likely true unless it is a test run for the big time. Call me cynical, but my options are open on all accounts except the stupid lightening red herring the media threw out there. That was just dumb.

Lighning strike in some sensitive area like the fuel tanks or a catastrophic failure due to bad weather

You still pushing your troll theories?

Thought you would have been zotted by now

AQ took credit but not publicly and certainly not in the immediate aftermath.

Depends on who has been contacted. If it was the NYT or equivalent they won't divulge it.

Four minutes of transmissions indicating a series of failures doesn't sound like a bomb. Sounds more like structural breakup in hyper-turbulance.

It would depend on the type of bomb and how big it was. Could have been a small bomb set to disable an aircraft and cause it to fail without blowing the sh** out of it. Explosive experts can do that sort of thing.
