Gov. Patrick blasts Severin on radio show

Bay State Gov. Deval Patrick blasted WTKK yakker Jay Severin on his own radio station today, calling his remarks about Mexicans “way over the line” - and said he was “embarrassed” to be associated with the Hub station.

Patrick - who skewered Severin during his monthly segment on Jim Braude and Margery Eagan’s WTKK-FM (96.9) show - said he was “disappointed” that the station let the right-wing host back on the air this week.

“I found Jay Severin’s comments on the air about Mexicans hateful and hurtful, really just way over the line and I was just as disappointed, frankly, that the station chose to let him resume broadcasting this week,” Patrick said.

Avi was a late comer, but at least you had a choice.

Williams goes back at least to the late sixties. Avi goes back to the seventies. It was Avi, if memory serves, who gave the late David Brudnoy his start in talk radio by letting him sub.

And I’m disappointed governor in not receiving the lower property taxes that you campaigned on. You know, the taxes that you don’t actually control?

And where are those 1000 extra police officers? Oh. You added 1000 hacks to state government rather than 1000 police offers to cities and towns.

Deval Patrick is Obama-lite. And that’s very lite indeed.

“Williams goes back at least to the late sixties. Avi goes back to the seventies.”

Jerry Williams was very instrumental in talk radio’s success.

(to and for the benefit of others)

Not from the likes of Patrick, he didn’t. Severin should not have singled out Mexicans. I don’t know why he did considering most of our illegal population around these parts are from countries other than Mexico.

I saw George Lopez, during his HBO special a year or so ago, go into an angry rant about how glad he was about the e coli food poisining scares happening in the U.S—he said he hoped the migrant workers were, uh, wiping themselves with some of the produce (pantomiming what he meant as he was talking)as a way of getting back for us cracking down on illegal immigration.

What do you think of that-or is that different?-kind of like when Chris Rock said he thought Nicole’s mother and sister should be forced to “f%#k” OJ

Severin, in part, called Mexicans “leeches” and some of the world’s “lowest primitives.”

What an idiot. 2 in two days--yesterday's imbecile being Turner.

What in the world does a vulgar comedian have to do with any of this?

He said Mexicans. He did not say illegal aliens.

Isn’t it the same thing? And shouldn’t they also face similar repercussions?

Funny, I can’t find any full quotes. I’m going to guess he is talking about illegals since the MSM keeps saying he was talking about “mexican immigrants”

“No one has called for any infringement upon Severin’s right to be a racist”.

...’bout time someone called a spade a spade! It’s not “racist” to refer to Mexican illegals as “leeches” when it’s accurate. That’s who he was referencing. Mexicans that came with the intent to assimilate and become American citizens is a different story.
