Pastor asks members to bring guns to church Says it's a good way for his Ky. flock to celebrate Independence Day
Ken Pagano, pastor of New Bethel Church in Louisville, Ky., says America wouldn't exist without God and firearms.
Thurs., June 4, 2009
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A Kentucky pastor is inviting his flock to bring guns to church to celebrate the Fourth of July and the Second Amendment.
New Bethel Church is welcoming "responsible handgun owners" to wear their firearms inside the church June 27, a Saturday. An ad says there will be a handgun raffle, patriotic music and information on gun safety.
"We're just going to celebrate the upcoming theme of the birth of our nation," said pastor Ken Pagano. "And we're not ashamed to say that there was a strong belief in God and firearms without that this country wouldn't be here."

Wasn’t bringing your guns to church a frontier tradition back in the day? Simple good manners and common sense when injuns or bandits might strike at any time?
I’ll leave aside the Southern feuding tradition, a la “Huckleberry Finn”.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammo
Reverend Ken sounds like my kind of folks!
Oh, and just to complete the political incorrectness, don’t forget tobacco products. Wear a shirt with a target on it, as the left will have a field day.
Piece Be With You.
Right on Reverend. Now if we could just get the rest of the 501C(3) neutered pastors to pick up that banner the country would be much safer.
"A church is designated as a safe haven, it's a place of worship," said Phillips, who was shot by a church member's relative for an unknown reason and still has a bullet lodged in his spine. "It is unconscionable to me to think that a church would be a place that you would even want to bring a weapon."
Apparently, this particular church also requires you to leave your sense of irony at home...
Yeah, so? Only wusses live their lives worrying about what the Leftards have to say. Besides, they're wearing targets, too, and we're better shots!
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I think a lot of folks carry at my church including myself.
I wouldn’t attend a church that forbids me the right to protect myself and family. And,... The only place I ever lost control of a firearm was in church. I dropped my S&W Airweight in front of God and everybody else...
my father in law does. it’s a big church and he teaches kids in sunday school. they actually have cops at the church and they don’t have to worry about going downstairs they know my father in law is taking care of business
Here is the church’s website. If you look on the left side of the site, you will hear a sermon about self-defense.
