In the past four years, the federal government has given $64 million in grants to nonprofit groups it considers at risk of attack from international terrorists.

But is that the best use of the nation's Homeland Security money?

The groups that won grants have not been threatened or attacked. In fact, federal auditors critical of the program said in 2006 that experts knew of no threats of foreign terrorism against any nonprofit.

Nearly 70 percent of the grants awarded to New York nonprofits were given to Jewish organizations, including synagogues, private schools and community organizations.

Interesting that the same groups received money in later years as well...double dipping? LOL

All NY City area. Is there no other area threatened? I thought Buffalo and some other cities had been warned of active groups threatening their areas.

I imagine the money was spent on special windows, secured entrances and security systems. Big Brother “doing” for us!

I don’t agree with handing out taxpayer money for this purpose but it wouldn’t be difficult at all to make a case that Jewish organizations are potentially at high risk from Islamic crazies.

In fact, anyplace Jews live, meet, travel, work, shop or stand is a high risk area if there are muslims anywhere in the area.

..they also gave even greater sums of our money to the oil industry to beef up security, etc..

Yes, during a year they made record profits off us, they got even more from us through the backdoor.
