Laura’s just being a class act.

Agreed. The last thing she wants is to become embroiled in a ginned-up controversy with the Obama's. The press is eager for any diversion from just how bad the O administration sux and Laura would get the Cheny/Palin treatment ad infinitum. This is a smart, albeit unrewarding way to handle it.

Every time a Bush says or does something stupid, it’s a sign of class.

“I think she sounds like a winner and a good nominee...”

“...we need a racist on the Supreme Court as well as in the White House. It’s only fair. George! I said two olives in my martini damn it!”

I think it would have been “classier” to keep her mouth shut.

Laura is no doubt in negotiations for a book deal, and this is an attempt to increase the size of the advance...a hint, a whiff, that she’ll come out against some of W’s actions and policies...the long suffering spouse can finally break her silence..

You can bet CNN, MSDNC, Chuckie Schumer, et alwill be using this soundbite to marginalize those that opppose her.

I respect W and Laura but they are squishy get-alongers. They are the antithesis to the Cheneys.

Going on Good Morning America isn’t classy. It’s idiotic.

Sounds like the “Meghan McCain Wing” of the GOP is growing.

To tell you the truth, I never related much to Laura. I think she is “nice”, attractive, and a good mother. That said, I dont think she is a deep thinker or spends much time on current events, philosophy, or political thought. So her opinions have little weight on me. I’ve often wondered though why Condi and her were so close and what did Condi see that I didn’t.

Of course they asked her a gotcha question. That’s what they do. Laura doesn’t know this? What did she expect? Obama treatment?

I think you stopped reading after "glad" (which doesn't appear in the article, btw).

It would be nice to find out what she actually said.

I’d find it hard to support any candidate who said the following:

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”

Throw in that she’s been a member of La Raza, and well, I don’t know how you make a positive statement about the woman—neutral at best.

Two words: HARRIET MIERS

Laura Bush is a great lady. She needs to stay away from opining on SCOTUS appointments though.

Sorry, being a class act here would be saying that like her husband she is not going to speak out on the new President’s choices and decisions.

That way she would not be speaking against Sotomayor despite herself apparently being a supportive liberal—but she wouldn’t be speaking against the interests of the party that put her husband in power either.

The Bush Dynasty needs to take its place on the ash heap of history.

“...always say nice thing about their political enemies...”

And these enemies are not just the Dems. Bush was the “Religion of Peace” spokesman and increased Mohammedan immigration AFTER 9/11.

Thank you Prez Bush for turning Shelbyville, Tennessee into a Muzzie Hell Hole.
