(WSB Radio) Police in Gwinnett County have arrested and charged a man in a deadly hit and run.
Sabrina Stanek, 25, was dragged 40 feet after trying to get Constantine Toncz, 39, to slow down in her Belmont Lane neighborhood when he struck her with his truck and pinned her between his truck and a parked vehicle.
Stanek's neighbor, Ashely Hawk said when Toncz finally stopped his Ford F-350 he yelled a few expletives and wondered if he had hit a trash can. Toncz then fled in his truck only to return later.
"She gave everything to everyone before anyone else," Hawks told Channel 2 Action News. "She was the best friend; she was the best daughter, the best mother in world and loved her kids more than anything.
Stanek, mother of a four and a five year-old, was found lying in the road when officers arrived on the scene.
Toncz was charged with DUI, felony leaving the scene and vehicular homicide.
Can you spot the darwin award candidate in this article? (hint you see a car going faster than you like in your neighborhood. You 1. get out of the way and give the drive the friendly finger of fertility. 2. run and call the police because the police will protect you or 3. Step out in the road to force the driver to slow down or hit you.)
There are thousands of illegal chinese and koreans in Atlanta.
What the hell has happened to this country?
We got too nice.

I’ll bet you #1 was tried, maybe not with this particular driver/murderer...
#2 works only when they are available and not fulfilling the required revenue generating efforts for the city...
#3 while not very smart, is what some people do all across this country when #1 and #2 have not done the job...
News is news, and not evidence in a court of law...
If you want to speculate, I will throw this out there and let it fly till the verdict is read...
This woman did not step out in front of the truck that hit her, rather they guydriving had a momentary lapse of sanity, served into her in abject rage over her telling him he was driving too fast in the nieghborhood where people live, and kids play...How dare she do that!!! Right???
We live in a free country where we should be allowed to do whatever we want whereever we want, and how dare someone take up other peoples offenses and confront those doing something that puts others lives in danger...Right???
Just my opinion...
“What the hell has happened to this country?...”
An insidiously evil mental disease called: LIBERALISM.
It has a self-destructive nature to it....unfortunately, as in this case, it takes the innocent and the sane with it.
Occasionally, we had one particular car full of young single enlisted men drive down our street a bit too fast. The Gunny went out to the street, flagged them down and warned them on several occasions. Their car muffler was shot, so it was easy to hear them coming. They still continued to roar through the neighborhood driving way too fast.
Finally the Gunny had enough. He heard them coming, walked out to the curb and at the last second before they flew past he reached down, picked up a 4x4 timber about 5 feet long and held it out at windshield height. Too late for them to slow down, let alone stop.
Result? No more fast drives down our street. Like the old joke about the farmer and the mule that would not plow straight, “Sometimes you just need to get their attention!”
Note to self:
Of course, this works a lot better if you are a 6’1” Marine Gunny rather that a mother of two children. However, in some cases, a mom is the more dangerous of the two.
Very possible, although the drunk part and the fact that he thought he hit a garbage can until he saw the body leads me to doubt that scenario. It was still biblically stupid on her part. I firmly believe in NEVER trying to force the right of way with my boday against a 5000 lb vehicle.
There was some moronic woman in Atlanta several years ago - a militant pedestrian rights activist - who would step out into traffic to show that pedestrians have the right of way. Was even on the news. My thoughts at that time were someone that dumb and that arrogant needs to be removed from the gene pool and I just feel sorry for whoever happens to remove her. This one exercised extremely bad judgement (which in no way excuses the jerk who hit her)
On campus, pedestrians have complete right of way. So the students just step in front of cars when they cross streets. It’s almost like a game.
The problem is they assume everyone knows the rules of the game. Several students have been hit and one killed.
Aided and abbetted by envy, greed, stupidity and laziness. The liberal Democrats are the party of envy.
How much you wanna bet that this is not this guy’s first DUI?
The insanity of attempting to repeal the laws of physics - specifically Newton's thing about momentum. Which is more likely to be successful?
Someone in Washington, a liberal, decided that it would be politically expedient for the US to become "one world" . The result is that our culture, our heritage, out laws, our Constitution, you name it, have been tossed aside for these foreigners, most of whom are here illegally.
That's how we got a Kenyan usurper, who hates this Country, in the White House.
Or 4. Start pacing around your front yard while carrying a rifle and GLARE at the offending driver as they go by.
[Which happened to me by accident. I was looking for a coral snake I'd spotted earlier.]
Now the Nascar wannabes creeeeep by our house.

I feel sorry for the woman's family and for her kids in particular, but you shouldn't put your life at risk because you THINK you know what someone's reaction will be.
Wrong. and the proof of that is that she's dead. Had she not confronted the drunk driver she would not be dead. She had the law on her side, but he had Newton on his, so she's dead right.
Not taking you up on that one.
It’s liberalism. They see that giving pedestrians the right of way helps encourage walking instead of evil driving. Walkers are better people and should be rewarded.
If a few get killed in the process, so be it. The liberals just blame the cars.
Where do you see any information that guy was a Romanian illegal? Just curious, I’d like to see him in jail for a long time no matter where he’s from.

I have to admit that your method didn’t occur to me. Around here the betwetters would call the police. UPS delivered a load of ammo to my houe, and one of the neighbors signed for it. A guest of his marched over and confronted me demanding to know what business I had with firearms and ordering ammo (the neighbor told him to shut up and apologized to me before I had a chance to answer)
heard it on the radio this morning. The radio sometimes lets things slip that are not in the PC control of the rest of the media.
She didnt step out into the road!
The article says she stood beside the road to yell and him, so he came off the road to run her down!
Premeditated murder.
Article says she was off the road- he came off the raod to run her down.
Wrong - read the whole article - the part about the garbage can and then running off AFTER he discovered that he hit a person.
not the article I posted. it said
Stanek, mother of a four and a five year-old, was found lying in the road when officers arrived on the scene.
If you are going to be taking on a speeding drunk in an F-350, it is good to be inside an F-450, at a minimum... In Truck vs. Pedestrian, truck wins, every time.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators said Sabrina Stanek, a mother of two, was trying to tell a driver in her Gwinnett County neighborhood to slow down — when he ran her over.
The crash happened on Belmont Lane in Lawrenceville Sunday night.
Ashley Hawk said she rushed to help her close friend moments after she was struck by a Ford pickup truck.
Hawk said the driver, Constantine Toncz, 39, had been speeding several times down the neighborhood street Sunday night. The speed limit in the residential area is 25 mph.
When Stanek, 25, ran out to the side of the road to wave him down, police said Toncz ran off the road and hit the young woman — crushing her between the front of his truck and another truck parked off the street.”
No, we let the a$$wipe liberal buttheads take over and we no longer fight for our freedom! MOLON LABE!
That is very true...
The only problem is the majority if the time trash cans (and I know you, I amd many others don’t put our garbage cans) in the street to be hit...
This point will be easy to pick apart in court...
The issue as a whole may seem trivial, and the solution should not be left to us to resolve, but when it doesn’t get reported and resolved by those who are responsible to take this issue up, then (within reason) people like us should...
I certainly would like to see what happens with this case...
No, we got too feminized.
LOL
Friend of mine dropped a 6 in well casing in the road.
Same result.
Gunny’s always right......
Your report says one thing mine says another at least one of them has it wrong and with the level of accuracy in reporting these days probably both. .
Me too. Since he isn't black or hispanic I'd say he has a pretty good chance of getting some serious jail time
How would you take down a license number; from the house?Going to the side of the road isn't bad judgment but it looks like you aren't able to see that.
Yes your logic is flawed. Your straw man is utterly irrelevant and not in the least analogous. She wasn't sitting in her house, she was actively seeking out a confrontation with a drunk driver behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Flawed judgement especailly with a drunk behind the wheel of a large vehicle.
RIP.
The driver did not drive off the road and hit her, she was on the side of the road waving him down.
Now, if she had heard him coming, stayed inside and called the cops on him, the chances are he would STILL be in jail for driving drunk and recklessly, AND she would still be alive.
I would like to point out that he did NOT drag her 40 ft, nor did he crush her between two trucks. He hit her, and THEN hit the truck.
I feel terrible that a woman lost her life. But the fact remains, she didn’t need to. Who in their right mind goes out to the curb/street to flag a huge vehicle that is obviously lacking control?
He came around the corner, lost control and hit her. Even her boyfriend on the news thought that a garbage can had been hit. Her own boyfriend.
Everyone talks about what a horrible person he was, and truly, what he did was terrible. But AGAIN, if she had not gone out at 9:30pm o’dark to flag down an out of control driver, she would still be alive to see her children that were already being given custody to their grandparents. Wonder why THAT was???? Perhaps she had judgement issues.
I am sick to death of hearing people say he needs the electric chair, or to be shot in the head, for something that he did not set out to do. And COULD have been prevented.
People need to just wake up.
Oh, and by the way. He IS legal. So, the media throwing out the whole Romanian thing is actually ILlegal. Just FYI.
Good points.
