You signed up on 8-19-1998 just to post this? ;-)
When I was in college, I took a freshman-level psych course as a senior (changed majors and had to catch up). I participated in some lab experiments as part of the course. One of them was to introduce you to a complete stranger of a different ethnic group (it was the 70s), talk for 5 minutes, then write down your opinion of the other person. What I got back was a troll-description of me- self-centered, arrogant, superior-feeling, etc. (basically nothing like me!). Afterwards, we were asked to work together on a project at a table - we pulled up our chairs and from behind they whipped out a tape measure to see how far apart our shoulders were. They were trying to measure how threatened white students would be by core-level negative feedback from a black student. They threw out my results as an out-lier (4” shoulder-to-shoulder) because I wasn’t intimidated. I guess I learned at an early age to ignore trolls....

Billygoatgruff not like trolls.
Billygoatgruff butt them with horns.
Don’t forget Mac vs PC or conservative v. libertarian!
“””They hide behind their computer and spew insinuations or accusations without naming names.””””
99% of the things that people say to each other on the net are things that they would never ever say to someone’s face.
Gibberish.
Who, me??? (Blinking quizzically)
One of many threads of that particular one.
Starts a fight then immediately discredits the responses based on spelling, capitalization and grammar.
“An old one, but good !”, he smirked trollishly. “I seem to be on a troll here !”
That is so frickin’ cool...I’m trying to identify myself on the list.
“The High & Mighty”, that troll who comes into a thread claiming to want to “elevate” the level of discourse. When confronted proceeds to personally attack the confronters, when likewise is returned, “High & Mighty” plays hurt along the lines of “woe is me, everybody is against me”, and then probably pings the mods.
Me, too, looking for "handsome, brilliant, insightful and always entertaining." I'm sure it's here somewhere...
I'm going to go for Issues with a sprinkle of Duelist, myself.
Those are the ones that always discount my two cents. As if good spelling indicates wisdom.

“Duty-Drunks” I calls ‘em!
Always a minority of brown-nosers aboard any and all forums, etc. in tight w/mgmt just like the rest of the world. They seek to “lord it” over others, and most especially “newbies.”
Once they sucker someone into confronting them—they gotcha—and it’s usually the “attacker” who is then chastised by the troll’s friend, the moderator.
So what’s new!
Laz would hit any of them
I’m betting Chet was merely illustrating a textbook example of the “PuckerUpper”.
