Gingrich's Move to the (Religious) Right
Washington Post ^ | June 9, 2009 | By David Waters

It doesn't rank with last year's Exorcism of Sarah Palin, but the Blessing of Newt Gingrich is an early contender for Church-Based Political Moment of the 2012 presidential campaign. It's also the clearest evidence yet that Gingrich is positioning himself to the far Christian Right of fellow 2012 presidential hopefuls Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee.

Gingrich's latest venture into the conservative evangelical world came when he spoke/preached at Lou Engle's "Rediscovering God in America" conference last Friday, hosted by Rock Church in Virginia Beach and broadcast on GodTV.

Last month, Gingrich made a very public conversion to the Catholic faith of his wife, Callista. As Gingrich continues his rediscovery of God in America, watch for more quotes like this one from last Friday's conference: "I am not a citizen of the world," he said. 'I am a citizen of the United States, because only in the United States does citizenship start with our creator."

Not quite the "every form of witchcraft" from which Palin's pastor sought to protect her, but then positioning for 2012 has just begun.

Treasonous agenda of the Council on Foreign Relations

The most powerful clique in these elitist groups have one objective in common – they want to bring about the surrender of the sovereignty of the national independence of the United States. A second clique of international members in the CFR comprises the Wall Street international bankers and their key agents. Primarily, they want the world-banking monopoly from whatever power ends up in the control of global government.

Who are some of the past and present members of this anti-American operation? Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld, Porter Goss, Alan Greenspan, John Bolton, Paul Wolfowitz, Gen. Richard B. Myers, Henry Hyde, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Sandra Day O'Connor, George Soros, Christopher Dodd, Diane Feinstein, Gerald Ford, Bill Frist, Newt Gingrich, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Katherine Harris, Teresa Heinz, Antonia Hernandez – President of Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Gen. John P. Jumper – current Air Force chief of staff, Joseph Lieberman, John McCain, Rupert Murdock, David Rockefeller, Diane Sawyer and Tony Snow.

Compared to what we have for leaders in the GOP right now, I would say Newt looks pretty good. At least he has a backbone.

And until the leaders are changed we have to deal with the present. Newt probably is better situated to deal with them at the present time. Two years from now who knows what candidates will emerge for the top spot.

Newt laid out a good outline of what needs to be done to take control back. You have to have control before you can effectively implement change. And even then it’s very hard to do within our Congress.

I’m not sure at this point that Newt is going to be the one lead the party but Newt is one that can be a very effective speaker and attack dog for the party. Newt will have to earn his spurs again and with his baggage he may not can do that. We’ll see.

I doubt McCain knows how Sarah saved him from a major embarrassment. W/o her on the ticket - it would have been a landslide for O. Too many of us were willing to sit it out and then came Sarah!

The new GOP coalition:

Fundamentalists and Neo-Cons

Conquer the world, kill them all, and let God sort them out.

Newt has too much unseen baggage in his closet and he can’t take the heat of the Media. HOWEVER, I think the Media wants him to the ‘second loser’ to 0bama and will create him as the Republican candidate as they did to McCain. If so, they’ll ignore the skeletons.

Huckabee also has unseen baggage in his closet and among his family history. He couldn’t take the heat of a Media blitz to his hometown to look for skeletons. There would be a family meltdown. Besides his ‘gig’ on FoxNews is occasionally entertaining.

Romney’s time was 2008 but “we” let the Media choose McCain. Romney is tooooo liberal as a Republican but for the first few years, he’d probably have acted as the Liberal-in-heart Bush 43. The Media realize he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in the Oval Office to become a real contender in 2012.

Pawlenty, Jindal, etc etc, are weak-willed wussies. NONE of the Men could withstand the merciless MEDIA attack they’d get if they actually could get the public to take them seriously.

The above and other name-recognized Republicans need to have a heart to heart and offer to do what they can to promote Sarah Palin (and hopefully Michele Bachmann if she’s interested and Liz Cheney). They can draw straws for Cabinet posts or Ambassadorships.

Palin can win easily if the GOP and all the Republicans who think they want to be in the White House after 0bamalammadingdong will throw ALL their support (and supporters) behind a Palin Presidency. They can outsmart the Media on this one or they can allow their EGOS do in 2012 what the Media did in 2008.

YOU and your “kind” are the reason why our party is in such tatters. Do us all a favor and do a Specter.

My kind? I make a comment and I’m the reason the party is in tatters? Please - grow up.
