Slain Kansas abortion provider's clinic to close

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The family of slain abortion provider George Tiller said Tuesday that his Wichita clinic will be "permanently closed," effective immediately.

In a statement released by Tiller's attorneys, his family said it is ceasing operation of Women's Health Care Services Inc. and any involvement by family members in any other similar clinic.

"We are proud of the service and courage shown by our husband and father and know that women's health care needs have been met because of his dedication and service," the family said.

Tiller was shot to death May 31 while serving as an usher at the Lutheran church in Wichita that he regularly attended. Scott Roeder is being held on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in Tiller's death.

Tiller's family said it will honor his memory through private charitable activities.

Family members said they wanted to assure Tiller's previous patients that the privacy of their medical histories and patient records will remain "as fiercely protected now and in the future" as they were during Tiller's lifetime.

Carhart, the abortion doctor who traveled from NE to Tiller’s clinic weekly to perform 3rd trimester abortions, was begging the Tiller family to keep it open so he could “continue his mission.” Apparently, they don’t let “doctors” ignore the law and kill babies in the 3rd trimesters in NE so he had to come to KS to do it.

Maybe a church group can gather up the money and buy the building and turn it into a pro-life adoption agency or group to help pregnant woman.

I'm not sure if the announcement is a ploy to get funding help, or if the family is not as fervent in their desire to kill babies as their zealot father was. I could see how an announcement like this might get Abortion lovers to open up their purses to fund a new Abortuary.

Message to those planning to be the next Tiller: Stay out of Kansas!

Why, I wonder, are pro-abortion groups so deferential to the late abortionist Tiller and his family? Did they mourn Saddam Hussein and his hideous behavior? Did they wring their hands over the welfare of Hitler, or Mussolini, or the perpetrators of the Bataan Death March? My understanding is that Tiller killed 60,000 unborn and just born humans. Why would good people not be glad that horror has come to an end?

LOL this is why liberals always kiss the muslims’ butts - because if you get muslims angry you will die, period.

Liberals have been walking all over Christians and Conservatives for decades because we always politely disagree and quietly “request” that they stop their hideously evil practices.

And now the first time a Conservative uses violence against them, they sit down, shut up and are afraid to re-open the clinic? Hmmmm...interesting. I guess this is why muslims slaughter people. I’d imagine the lesson won’t be lost on extremist groups around the country. =)

Easy if you ask me.

Well, he’s a hero to the left..

And a political opponent to the right... who is a symbol of what they are trying to fight politically...
and it doesn’t help the poilitical and public relations cause to see abortionists murdered-

shut down, out of business yes- but not murdered.

Just wait till Kennedy dies- both sides will run to the mikes and get their statements out...

now to be fair- Kennedy only killed one person..
not 60k or so that this Tiller fellow has..

Proud-Proud unbelievable.I stop by an abortion chamber yesterday.Just a quick stop to say hello to an old friend. He was there for the girls that go in for counciling 3 days before the abortion. Many black American girls going in.I saw 3 while I was there for 10 minutes. He told he was bad and had gone to the door so they called the cops. That's my Howard. They were just pulling up and I asked if they were Federal and he said no.He waved to them and they waved back.We all know each other after all these years. That hell hole does not do late term abortions. They prepare the women a few days ahead of time and they have them done at the hospital.I was there when a late term was saved.I was there when a priest jumped over the yellow line because an ambulance was called because a girl was bleeding to death.Father wanted to bless her .They arrested him.One of the cops did Adoration. My husband told him off.I could go on but how in the world could they be proud of this ungodly work.

Great point. Scott Roeder has saved more babies than Pres--ent Ubama has saved jobs.

And Roeder's contribution can be verified.

I’m glad to hear of the closures. I just hope that the actual surgical abortion rate decreases until there are no more killings in the womb.

If you thank God, then you have to thank Roeder. Nobody seems willing to do that.

Thank You Scott Roeder.
I just did, And it really wasn't that difficult.

Scott Roeder may have been a troubled individual, with ten dollars, a car, and a gun as his assets, and little to show for his lifetime of existence, but with one inexpensive act, he has become infamous and heroically stood up for the unborn by killing a man who fiendishly lived off of the spilled lifeblood of babies. Scott may be in prison for the rest of what otherwise could have been miserable years of decline for a troubled underachiever, but now he has atoned for his lack of achievement and has fame as a prisoner of war in the battle against abortion that he formerly anguished over. What was once just angst is now his accomplishment, gone are his days of feeling like he hasn't made a difference. I wouldn't doubt that Scott will chose to derive much of his self identity from this bold act instead of the 50 something years of Scott's underachievement that preceded it. I'm guessing that his comments from jail indicate that he sees himself as a prisoner of conscience who has sacrificed himself for the right of life for the preborn children.

People from every end of the spectrum and everywhere in between have condemned Scott Roeder's act of killing. But if you were to view it as the first shot in a war for the defense of unborn Americans, that would make Scott a hero who acted while 300 million of us either stood against him, or did squat, or just prayed that God would stop george tiller from continuing to kill multiple babies every day from his business in Wichita.

I think they’d like to enjoy their blood money without being shot at. This wasn’t the first time someone shot George Tiller. If his family had continued his business it would only be logical to assume that they might also be targeted in the same way that he was. They could be saying “don’t shoot! We’re not doing it anymore. George loved killing the babies, we just loved the money.”

I am probably misunderstanding you. I truly thank Scott Roeder for what he did, although it IS sad that it had to come to that. I do NOT shed any tears for anti-Dr. Tiller, however. I would NOT condemn a person who kills a late-term abortion doctor after lawsuits have been heard and charges are dismissed in a criminal investigation on the anti-doctor. As to whether one kills a late-term abortionist before all other methods are exhausted, I would have to think about that deeper.
