Attn: N. Ga. Freepers - Patriot Guard Mission(s) update

Mods, please move this thread if it doesn't belong in news.

Georgia has been hit hard with the loss of 3 heroes in Afghanistan. All missions are in and around the Atlanta area. Rome, Peachtree City and Gainsville.

This means the Guard will be stretched rather thin for all these missions. If any of you can attend, all the PGR mission threads containing details are located in the Georgia Forum. The link is:

http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/profiles?location=58

You need not ride a motorcycle nor do you have to be a member of PGR to participate in honoring these heroes. I'll be going to Gainsville this morning, Rome tomorrow and Gainsville again on Saturday.

Thank you for any participation and/or support you can provide.

Dawg

Here is the notice from Lyman Ward Military Academy that I received Monday...

It is with much sadness that I share the tragic news of a fellow alumnus, Major Kevin M. Jenrette. Kevin was killed in action Thursday, June 4, 2009 while serving our country in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 108th Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition Squadron, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team with the Georgia National Guard in Calhoun. He was also a former U. S. Army Ranger.

Kevin is the son of Colonel and Mrs. Albert W. (Bill) Jenrette, the President of Lyman Ward Military Academy. Kevin’s wife, Shannon, and his three young children reside in Lula, Georgia.

Kevin graduated from LWMA in 1990, having attended since 1986, and was a Lifetime Member of the Alumni Association.

A memorial service honoring Major Kevin Jenrette will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. The service will take place in the Smith Auditorium on the campus of Lyman Ward Military Academy and is open to all who would like to attend and pay their respects. The Jenrette family has requested that the funeral in Lula, Georgia be limited to family and members of Kevin’s unit. Your understanding for the family and continued prayers during this difficult time is appreciated. If you have any further questions regarding the Memorial Service, please contact me, Amanda, at the Alumni Center or Joe Watson at the Academy.

Thank you.

Amanda Kelly

Executive Director
The Alumni Association of SII/Lyman Ward Military Academy

For those not familiar with Lyman Ward Military Academy mentioned above...it is an all-male military boarding school for grades 6-12 located in Camp Hill, Alabama about 40 miles northwest of Columbus, GA.
