Posted on 06/11/2009 10:45:16 AM PDT by mnehring
FBI agents visited the offices of the conservative Weekly Standard magazine yesterday after a shooting at the Holocaust Memorial Museum and told employees they'd found the magazine's address
A senior Standard staffer confirmed the visit but declined to discuss it in detail. An FBI spokeswoman, Katherine Schweit , also declined to comment on the investigation.
Two other sources said two FBI agents arrived shortly after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the 17th Street offices of the magazine. They told staffers that they had found the address of the magazine on a piece of paper associated with the shooter, James von Brunn, and asked whether the Standard had received any threats.
The magazine is about a mile north of the Holocaust Museum, and there's no other indication that von Brunn had targeted it. Von Brunn's published rants included attacks on "neocons," and the Standard has been at the heart of the neoconservative movement.
The suggestion that the Standard may have been a target complicates any view of the racist shooter in contemporary left-right terms. Von Brunn's white supremacist roots put him under the rubric of a "right-wing extremist," but the substance of his views -- which included everything from believing that President Bush may have been in on the September 11 attacks to denying that President Obama is an American citizen -- are too far on the fringe to fit into conventional political classification.
The focus on the Standard, though, appears to be of a piece with his central motivation: Anti-Semitism. In one essay, Von Brunn attacked "JEWS-NEOCONS-BILL OREILLY," and the suggestion that neoconservatism is a specifically Jewish conspiracy is common on the racist fringe.
“Kind of like Jews who want Christians to renounce Christ?”
I’ve never seen that.
The (most common) Jewish belief is that Christianity is a fine -— nay, the finest -— Noahdic religion for a non-Jew to have.
The basic morals and preaching of Christianity are wonderful, and fully in-tune with Jewish ideals.
The worship of the G-d of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob is similarly wonderful.
Where did you discover he’s a self-proclaimed socialist? Thanks in advance:)
Only if it makes the JOOOOOOOZ look bad.
Nice spelling, eh?
“Where did you discover hes a self-proclaimed socialist?”
among many other articles.
Direct quote from the shooter “SOCIALISM, represents the future of the West”
Reminds me of this quote:
“We are socialists, we are enemies of todays capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions.
- Adolf Hitler
Sorry, I don’t get your joke.
It wasn’t a joke. Heard much about this from the insidious Obama? “The government” won’t show anything unless it makes the JOOOOOZ (that’s us) look bad.
Do you have a link to the quote?
Not really meant that way, just pointing out that there's no reason for Jews to want Christians to renounce Christ, thus there aren't any.
Haven’t really been following it too much, but I would like to know where the links are to what you are saying, so I can prove one of my friends on Facebook wrong. Especially about his pagan beliefs and Christian hating.
A liberal friend of mine posted on Facebook the following, and I want to show her up.
“I am more concerned with the threat from the Christian-identity groups than the homegrown Islamic terrorists. Its a disaster waiting to happen. The fact that this guy did what he did may be symptomatic of things to come. - Maria Haberfeld, a professor at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, on yesterday’s shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. I say amen to that!!”
“notice how the left/media do not mention that the shooter is left wing or he is a registered Democrat.
like many on the left they are driven by hate and intolerance”
Listened to Dave Ross commentary on WCBS radio today effectively associating Free Republic with Nazis and the white supremacist movement.
Right: if it’s not anti-Semtic for Christians to want Jews to accept Christ, then it can’t be anti_Christian for Jews to want Christians to renounce Christ. Considering the current state of US-Israel relations, it seemed like a good reply.
Well, sure, but the stress is one hell of a lot lower. And then he got shot, too, which he certainly must have expected, but lived. I’m a good bit younger than 88 but just the shock of geeting shot might kill me even if the wound itself didn’t.
Maybe if Bill O'Reilly wants to do something purposeful, he can have his people scour the left-wing websites for angry references to "neo-cons" as the source of some push for war and support of Israel.
The new anti-semitism says "neo-cons" and "zionists" instead of Jews.
The new anti-semitism equates Israeli soldiers with nazis:
The new anti-semitism marginalizes Jews who are politically conservative by suggesting that their loyalties are not with America.
G-d should please protect and keep safe our holy brother.
Be glad to send it later tonight. For now Google his name and the quotes I mentioned to find them.
I’ll update my list with clickable links. Many of us are on other site where we do “battle” and I know how important this info is.
You misunderstood. It not antisemitic for Christians to evangelize. My point was that there simply aren't Jews who want Christians to renounce Christ as was suggested. There's no reason to since the righteous have a place in the world beyond, whether Jewish, or Christian or Muslim, pretty much anyone other than idolators.
Have we figured out what VonBrunn’s FR screen name was yet?
He wasn’t one.. antisemite racists wouldn’t last five seconds here.. Now DU he would be at home at.. just rant a little about Israel and Christians and they would make him a mod over there.
I remember complaining how much “neocon” reminded me of “Nazi”, and for obvious reasons took serious exception to that. I was told I was being over sensitive.
You're so funny.
I think this is generally true, but not the point of an absolute as you state. I have met at least a few Jewish people who do urge particular Christians, their offspring, to renounce Christ.
I hear that. Then they try to list of people who aren’t Jewish that they say they call neo-cons just to try and prove they don’t mean it in an anti-semitic way.
Thanks for the insight! I will have to say something to her about it.
Um. WE know that. There would be no way ever that any Jew would proselytize to convert Christians to Judaism...but if you think about the original blaze comment in the context of this hate crime...it's insulting that anyone even thought it worth the effort of typing, let alone posting. What does conversion have to do with prejudice anyway?
The man walked in and shot another man dead, apparently at random. HE didn't know the man's religion, so conversion has nothing to do with it.
In context, since conversion had nothing to do with the crime, I found the comment insulting too.
The useful idiots. Look what we have pretending to run the country right now, and with amazingly high approval rates, considering his DIS-approval ratings. Marx, Trotsky and Lenin won after all.
beats Jihadaeic I suppose. :-)
He’s a Democrat?? For real??
Thanks to you both- been super busy and am trying to catch up on this guy...
But, the MSM is busy with their story about the shooter being a right wing whackjob.
FOFLOL...I only caught it AFTER hitting "post", then started hitting the stop button like mad, but it was too late.
What’s the source on that?
I caught the ABC nightly news tonight only -please note- because it came on when I stopped the DVD I was watching.
There was a piece on white supremecists and how the FBI has been targeting them in light of the election of a black president etc.
Where was the ABC story about the threat of Black Muslims/thugs when black Muslims tried to bomb a Jewish center in NYC and when they successfully killed a soldier?
I’m not sure how Marx’s derivative philosophical concoctions, or the actual texts from which his lies were derived, preclude him from being a satanist. His philosphy was a ploy designed to manipulate the masses and enslave the human race. And 100 years later, it’s still working.
If that’s not serving satan, nothing is.
This is the news forum, not the religion forum, so I don't want to belabor this. But surely you must understand that a Jewish apostate is different than a Christian, and that a Jew counceling a family member who has left the faith, for any religion, not just Christianity, as to the reprecussions is quite different that the statement I responded to, which was that Jews try to convince Christians to abandon Christ, or some such nonsense. I didn't bother to go back and quote it.
like Gandhi said
first they ignore you
they then make fun of you
they then attack you
then you win
A woman I thought I knew up there in NY city said that the republicans were Nazis, I then told her that you do know that the Nazis were left wing not right.
she told me no they were not and she knows as she is Jewish
Now if you understand that mentality then well done because I do not
like I said I thought I knew her
first they ignore you
they then make fun of you
they then attack you
then you win
Great quote. Never seen that one before. It's gonna apply to FR even more these days if we step up our offensive to combat the media and rescue Sarah's reputation, too.
I figure Don Curtis picked up a failed FM station for a song, made it FM talk. It's defineately a second tier for talkers. Curtis has RUSH/HANNITY/LEVIN on WPTF in Raleigh. The Burlington station carries into the Raleigh market.
Boortz and Savage are their heavyweights, but their local guys are not conservative at all.
I do enjoy the Dan Rather parody in the morning, they have it dead on.
Where can I read that he was a registered Democrat? Interesting. I’m kinda out of it news wise - working 7 days per week and can’t really log on anyplace. Thanks!
I studied Marxism pretty extensively in Grad school. It’s primarily a theory of History with no govermental aspects. The actual practical side was filled in by others.
Mark Levin was saying he’s a Socialist-not just a Dem.
Obviously I woulddn’t mind reporting pointing out he voted Dem-Obama.
agreed the media have been in overdrive the last year or two.
I truly believe that we have to inform others, let others know that obama isn’t a messiah and that the media is lying.
In any public place I make a comment for others to hear about obama
