New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, a Republican, is calling on the CEO of CBS to fire David Letterman for crude comments he made about Sarah Palin and her daughter.
In the letter to CBS chief Les Moonves, Kolb said he took Letterman to task for the "shockingly inappropriate" jokes.
As the proud father of a daughter, and as a husband, I wanted Mr. Moonves to hear from me directly about Mr. Lettermans disparaging remarks," Kolb said in a written statement.
Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees even an established media figure like Mr. Letterman making demeaning and degrading comments about women.

FINCH CALLS ON CBS TO FIRE LETTERMAN
Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I - Springport) today has called for CBS Corporation President & Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves to terminate David Letterman's contract with the network. Assemblyman Finch sent a letter via personal courier (see attached) to Mr. Moonves asking for Mr. Letterman to be fired.
"Governor Sarah Palin was a guest of the City of Auburn in New York state," said Finch. "She was subjected to degrading comments about herself, her 14-year-old daughter, and all women, on primetime television by Late Show host David Letterman. I find these comments to be completely unacceptable and outrageous."
Governor Palin was in Auburn, New York to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Statehood of Alaska. She toured and addressed a crowd at the former home of Secretary of State William H. Seward, who was instrumental in the purchase of the Alaskan territory from Imperial Russia.
While staying in Upstate New York, Governor Palin and her family also took time to tour the home of Harriet Tubman who helped free slaves using the Underground Railroad. They visited the Women's Rights National Historic Park and National Women's Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York.
"Mr. Letterman made these comments on the heels of Governor Palin's visits to notable landmarks of abolitionists and women's rights advocates," Finch stated. "These comments and Mr. Letterman's continued degrading comments about women during the explanation of his remarks was appalling."
Finch continued, "I insist Mr. Moonves fire David Letterman and send a clear message to America that the CBS Network and its affiliates do not find insulting women acceptable."

Thank you Gary!!!
About time... Thank God there are still some strong Republican leaders.
BUMP
New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, a Republican,
I thought the NY assembly was now under Republican control after those 2 dems switched the other day.
David Letterman not expected to respond to Sarah Palin on tonight's show
Must read at Hillbuzz: Letterman Boycott Day Three
The left is generally jealous of their monopoly on outrage and will not like conservatives trying to partake of this most precious of liberal prerogatives.
Thank you, Brian Kolb and Gary Finch! More of our leaders need to speak out on this issue. The vicious and callous public degradation of a young girl by a major TV host is despicable. It goes against the American sense of decency and fairness.
When are we going to hear from some Democrats on this?
(...crickets chirping...)
The switch hasn’t become formalized yet (apparently). The Assembly page shows still the R as minority leader.
That’s the Senate.
They got rid of one comedian for making jokes about Afro American girls calling the ‘ho’s And They were BIG girls,
Thanks for the correction.

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
Ah thanks! Right, it was the Senate.
Dont try holding your breath until CBS makes a move.
Most people know exactly why the MSM, left, and others are bashing Sarah. They resent her for her positions and the life she has lived, including having her beautiful downs syndrome child and the love she and Todd have for that baby and the joy they obviously receive. Most folks (outside the beltway, hollywood, and the urban leftists enclaves understand that, are decent people, and will respond accordingly.
So, the more the MSM, the DNC, the leftists, liberals, and the RINOs go after her, the more respected and better positioned she will be to help us take back our country in 2010 and 2012.

About time... Thank God there are still some strong Republican leaders.

AMEN!
If Letterman were a PUB - or even a RINO - or even a non-LIB RAT, he’d be gone by now, buried under an avalanche of calls for his resignation. (See Imus, Don)
Letterman is one of at least several crude a$$holes at SeeBS.
New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, a Republican, is calling on the CEO of CBS to fire David Letterman for crude comments he made about Sarah Palin and her daughter.
Absolute nonsense...
While I think that Letterman is surely a jerk,no make that an asswipe..This is America even though we have a President trying to change that.We do not need Republicans trying to help him accomplish that destruction..Letterman has the right to be as stupid and ignorant as he wants to be. If a majority of AMERICANS realize that he would be off the air for the right reasons..If not then we have bigger problems then Letterman....
Good news.
When Letterman gets old and is hanging out in city parks, wearing nothing but a trenchcoat, and flashing kids that walk by, will he remember these days. Oh wait... he’s already there. Bada bing
It’s the same cesspool.
It’s the same cesspool.
stop it! we’re conservative...we don’t ask for firings...i don’t like the role reversal...we are not the whiners damnit
Get your point, but disagree.
Actions have consequences. I applaud everyone taking a strong position against Letterman and his pedophile remarks.
We need to fight back, and if taking a stand against child rape jokes is “whining”, then I am the greatest whiner of all. And proud of it.
Republicans should PROMISE to take the licenses of NBC,Cbs.
They no longer serve all Americans.
Republicans have nothing to lose anymore with those two.

I say yes!
Republicans who actually get it...
BUMP!
its not the high road...its about freedom of speech
let the market place decide to bury letterman with whether or not they watch their shows
this is not what we do...we support free speech
Thats a dude
Which one is Letterman?
Verbal child pornography (fantasizing on stage about the rape of minors is just that) is NOT free speech!
You know, in the day of olden, these remarks would have ended in a duel to reclaim honor.
Wonder if he makes her dress up like a fourteen-year-old cheerleader in the bedroom...
In days of old, the big brothers would have made sure that Letterman ended up in the river with his neck broken.
Don’t think we want to go there. As repulsive as people can be we still have protection and freedom of speech in this country.
As I said in post 37. These kind of remarks never were considered free speech and rightly so.
This has nothing to do with “contemporary liberal quelching of free speech”.
Whether 50, 100 or 200 years ago, if someone said something like this about a girl, daughter, wife, mother he ended in front of your fist, gun or a court.
Callender wrote and said some pretty vicious, and untrue, things about Thomas Jefferson. Our second greatest POTUS stated that he would have never considered restricting Callender's right to speak.
Guilty!

"CBS and each of my sponsors suggest child rape of girls
under 15 and those people Mel Gibson is always talking about."
Hamilton and Burr disagreed.
Gee, how hard a case would it be to make that these news outlets serve a distinct ideology, rather than delivering unbiased 'news'? I can't watch them anymore than I could watch Pravdans or Baghdad Bob.
fyi - Check out Tammy Bruce’s posts today at Twitter. She’s slamming the McCain’s, and those in their camp, pretty well.
As you please, but let this sink in about what giant ***holes Letterman and ilk are:

There are suggestions that he might invite Tina Fey to respond to Palin.
Got it? A family is being destroyed. And some want to take the high ground.
Fight fire with fire.
